I will be going there first time in January.
Any info on where to stay, should be clean and around 1000 baht per night.

Ok - I did about 7 visa runs - stayed across from the meekong river-
Thats the only part I can vouch for-
the P4P is very different-
Freelancers number on streets in dozens not thousands-
Its way more discreet $25 is long time $15 short time
keep track of kip - when they ask for 200,000 kip realize they are asking for about the above -
Most will want on street 120,000 to 150,000 short time-
Just remember a Beer lao is 6000 - the exchange was about 280 kip a baht so 1000 baht was 280,000 kip
A couple of years have past so check exchange -
f*** the currency off (before you leave) as Thais dont want it when you hit thailand at exchange houses-
US dollars are fine there-
Bars and discos are about 350,000 kip or 1200 long time
Some students who are hot go straight to 3000 baht equal-
All in all regular girls are also on -
I did an embassy girl - and a police woman recruit-
Be more careful - its not as liberal-
accomadation tips PM me-
the 2 month visa (back into Thailand is 1000 ) it takes two days to process-
Food is good and cheaper-
Bars more expensive - forget go gos-
A quick tip
The meekong stretch I will recommend has numerous outdoor aerobics classes in morning and evening - its easy to nab a girl in leotards-
trust no one and be discret-

I stayed here two years ago. Go for the Executive Room B for $36. Small breakfast included. The room is huge. Good value. Nice and helpful staff.
Close to the Thai Embassy. But mind you, like many hotels, you can't bring girls in.
As said, many freelancers on the street. Haven't tried any of them.

Where I was you could count them very easily-
Absolutely nothing like bangkok -
pockets of 6-20 in some quarters -
After midnight few-
The discos and bars on the Meekong area had a few hundred - but never tens of thousands-
Lao is way way different-

Sorry I don't have such great memory, but there are a couple of places to meet girls that are kind of dance clubs-the names escape me, but I saw them on this forum quite a while ago. I was there a couple of weeks ago and called a girl I met in dance club/bar about 5 months earlier. Can't remember the bar, but she asked me to meet her at the Tex-Mex restuaruant on the Mekong. When I did, there she chatted to a few of her friends on the way out. You might have some luck there and maybe you can find the bar names with the search engine. Good Luck

Recommend Lao Inter City on the riverfront as the place to stay. Around $30-35 USD for a nice-sized room with okay wifi. The riverfront rooms at $55 are not worth it.
Absolutely girl-friendly. Plus you're two doors down from Bor Pen Nyang, a great open-air (fourth floor) bar to pick up freelancers in until midnight.
After midnight, everyone moves en masse to Samlor Pub (on the next main, one-way street up from the riverfront road). That's open until 2. Also tons of freelancer pickin's. Frankly if you don't end up being driven back to your hotel on a freelancer's motorbike, you're not trying.
An alternative to Samlor is to head to Don Chan disco (the big white hotel about 2 km down from most of the riverfront shops, can't miss it, tallest building in Laos!) ; also easy freelancer pickin's. Doesn't get going until at least midnight, though, 1 am is better. It's open until 3 am.
Most other bars in Vientiane close at midnight. There are a couple more freelancer-heavy discos out toward the airport: Novotel and Future, but I've never been.

What he means about Bor Pen Nyang on fouth floor being open - is the side boards are exposed- its a stones throw from meekong-
Pool tables are f***ed -
But the bar has two sections-
The Music is semi ok-
They have A xams eve beer drinking contest - which I got 3rd in-
His tips are pretty spot on -

Much easier in Bangkok for uni girls, as there are more than 2 universities...lolol. Remember too that there are scams with hookers being totally illegal, and working with the police. It will cost you about $1000US to stay out of jail if you happen to get mixed up with one, or a hotel that turns you in.
The hotels that aren't girl friendly don't charge you extra like they do in Thailand, they turn you into the police as it is illegal, and enforced if there is a complaint.
If you check in with a girl no problem, but if you check in by yourself, then turn up later with a girl you could have problems with the police knocking on your door.
Vox is right on with the hotel to stay at. Was there last March, and that whole street is full of freelancers, but they are kind of shy, not like the typical Thai freelancer.

I stuck mainly to discos where the Uni girls were-
Dating sites were a good source of pussy sometimes if you are into games and slightly better hotels-
Riverside hotel back one road from Tex Mex is a good Budget hotel- 500 baht (they accept baht or US dollars)
They is cheaper still across the street- even several hostels at roads end-
I tended to part with 2000 plus and stayed at nice hotels mainly for personal reasons - (*i was f***ing hot office girl) and showing off-
