jabaa is the thai word for 'horse medicine'! (if i remember correctly) the name is derived for a synthetic drug, which makes you act like a crazy horse, hence the name!
i am not fully sure wether the big mamasan is a man or woman. actually i do not care as long as they are a nice person. some katoys can be really annoying especially when they realise that you do not take them seriuosly. pim the better half of mat is such an example, it, she, he or whatever knows that i do not take it serious!
the small cutie cleaning the stage is for sure a girl, as all dancers are girls in aw. just be aware of some of the service and reception girls! on the other hand there seem to be a lot japanese guys going to aw these days especially for those creatures!
i hope that aw is not turning itself into a mixed katoy/girls place (like so many other gogo's, esp. in patpong) as their are so many fine girls around, who for sure will leave sooner or later if that would be the case!

It's especially popular with ravers/dancers because Yaba gives you plenty of energy to dance non-stop through the night.
I didn't watch any BGs taking it, but there was a lot of gossip, and some girls told me. You will also suspect that the girls drink something stronger than coffee when you monitor their behaviour for a while.

Yaba is also known in the US, Japan and Europe. The effect is similar to Speed, but stronger and it can last up to 30 hours. It's said to be popular among ravers... and GoGo-Girls, of course
The stuff can have some serious side effects - Sleeplessness, depression, panic, outburst of aggression, liver damage, foetal damage etc.
It's pretty addictive as well...

Just a bit of clarification on the name and it's origin; Thai Metaamphetamines (speed) used to be known as Ya Mah -- which does translate to Horse Medicine. It was named such because it was used primarily by truck drivers and laborers allowing them to work like a horse. When it began to become popular as a recrational drug the Thai government announced that from now on in all news accounts it would be reffered to as Ya Ba -- crazy drug -- in order to demonize it and make it less socially acceptable. At the time I thought that was ridiculous but amazingly to me it worked; very soon all Thais began using the name that the government decided was the right one and it does sound worse and adds to the perception that if you take the drug you will go mad.
This has only occured in just over the last decade. Prior to that pharmaceutical amphetamines were available in many drugstores without prescription. They were safer and Ya Mah was seen as low class so it wasn't popular. When the Government cracked down on "legal" speed, the Ya Ba industry expanded hugely.

MrJoe, do you know when exactly the legal stuff became illegal & thus removed from the pharmacies? A few years ago or maybe 5? First time I heard about readily avail rave drugs over the counter I never believed it & I've never come across it either? Perhaps it was b4 my arrival (1998)...

led me shed some light.
the huge mamasan, licking her lips, usually a bit or more drunk is a woman. she lives near the airport and is married. according to my girl, who lives out there and gets into town with her. the tall former man, who is choreographing the shows is the wife of the boss. then there is another mamasan, the stocky one with the frizzy hair.
the cleaning lady became addicted to Ya Mar (horse medicine or pill, as it would drug a horse) or Ya Baa (crazy medicine or pill) as it is known today, when she started her dieting trip. believe me, she lost something like 15 to 20 kilos. she used to dance at another location before. fat and always eating.

one more thing, Yabaa only lasts for two to 3 hours max. not the whole might.
I've seen it with my own eyes on a girl doing the lesbian show in midnite. at first she did not recognize me at all, she had those misty somewhat dead eyes, 2 to 3 hours later she was all over me.

I thought that tall Mamasan looked a little masculin.....
I took one of the Thai Traditional dancers out - 3 times - if that is an indication of how much fun she was! She was a fun, tight, little spinner! I wish I could remember her name. I do have photos though!
