Are you sure she didn't do the black tape one? Ok, I must admit I do not remember but I thought she did that one. So I differ to your greater knowledge. I remember for sure that she did the white top and water thing and she had a good body.

The one I'm thinking of only did the duct tape show when the other girl (the one whose naughty pics can be found on the net) was gone on vacation for a month or so...and this was a while back...oh well

BTW, I kept a piece of tape from that girl as a souvenier...if I remember right, it came from her upper thigh...and is now part of my traveler emergency repair kit.

Cheers abt Sadie Hawkins...I was must have met at least 15 different americans at this bar, and I would point and say "sadie hawkins dance" when they came on...most of them had no idea what I was talking abt! WTF! I guess its just a regional thing...

Sadie Hawkins Day
------------------------------------------------------------------
On November 1, 1938, The Charleston Gazette sponsored Morris Harvey's first Sadie Hawkins Day celebration. The race and mock wedding that served as its finale were held between halves of the Morris Harvey - New River State football game. It was believed to be the first such celebration in the nation, the genesis of a national craze. The City News Reel Company filmed that first celebration, and it played as a newsreel around the country. Unfortunately, that film has been lost.

Sadie Hawkins Day was named for a cartoon character developed by Al Capp for his Li'l Abner comic strip. Sadie Hawkins was so ugly that her father, Mayor of Dog Patch, U.S.A., feared he would never marry her off. In desperation, he decreed a Sadie Hawkins Day. All unmarried men in Dogpatch would get a ten minute head start before Sadie and the other unmarried women began running after them. The man each woman caught would end up in front of Marryin' Sam for a shotgun wedding.

At Morris Harvey, the rules allowed all the female "residents" to chase their men, who were given a ten second head start. The men were not allowed to run out of bounds or past the fifty yard line. When the race was over, couples would line up to be married by Marryin' Sam. Participants dressed in the "hillbilly" costumes shown in the comic strip. The costumes for women, off-the-shoulder blouses and mid-thigh or shorter ragged edge skirts, were quite brief in relation to the usual attire of the 1930's-1950's. Parents sometimes objected to the amount of bare leg being shown by their daughters.

The names of persons holding roles other than Li'l Abner and Daisy Mae were not usually recorded, not even the names of the girls portraying Sadie Hawkins herself. Some of the other characters who were portrayed were Marryin' Sam, Earthquake McGoon, The Wolf Girl, Moonbeam McSwine, Hannibal Hoops, Mammy Yokum, and Pappy Yokum.

Al Capp attended Sadie Hawkins Day at Morris Harvey College on November 2, 1946. That celebration was combined with homecoming, and Mr. Capp rode in the homecoming parade. Impressed with the spirit shown by MHC students, he recommended MHC as a filming site in 1951 when Paramount Pictures made a short documentary about the Sadie Hawkins Day craze on college campuses. Many MHC students appeared in that film, which was shot May 9-11, 1951 on location at Coonskin Park, downtown Charleston, and at the Sunrise Mansion. The Morris Harvey Archives has a 16 mm and a VHS video copy of the film, which can be shown on campus to groups. U.C. does not hold the copyright to the film, and can not copy it for individuals.

There were no Sadie Hawkins Day celebrations during World War II. Not only were most of the "boys" fighting overseas, but there were no football games to serve as a " frame" for the race.

Sadie Hawkins Day was celebrated sporadicallly at Morris Harvey College in the late 1950's and early 1960's, finally dying out after the 1963 celebration. The demise of football at MHC in 1956 and the resulting loss of an appropriate venue for the race was a contributing factor, as was the changing social climate in the 1960's.

Sadie Hawkins Day revivals were conducted in the Fall of 1974 (sponsored by Theta Xi fraternity) and as part of the 100th anniversary celebration in 1988.

Wow, more that I ever needed to know abt Sadies...It was a fun high school night though...and would have been hella funner with two of these sweeties accompanying me!

I'll be in Bangkok Oct 3-5 and will for sure make it to AW one night for the shows...Not sure why, most other bars I got sick of, but I could always sit for an hour or so watching the shows at AW...Never bf'd from there and tried to avoid nasty hags tuggin on the elbow...Best was to sit at the stage and have a service girl stand behind, acting as a human shield.

cheers

There are many younger Americans who, most likely,
never heard of Li'l Abner and Sadie Hawkins. Mr. Capp, the artist, died in 1979, and the last date I can find on a Li'l Abner daily comic strip is 1961. At one time the daily strip had over 60 million readers.

Sanook,

Back in the day, these were terrifying times for us high school guys. Only the butt ugly ones asked and the rule was you had to go to the dance but fortunately not stay with them. If you didn't go to the dance with a girl, you had to agree to dance for the first hour with whichever one asked. Again, a very gruelling time.

However, these events spawned the phrase "Drink 'em pretty". At 16 with a six pack o' courage, anyone could ask and you were certain she was the Homecoming Queen!

Back in my teenage years I used to go along to the local dance, have a few dances with a not so good looking one buy her a few coke tickets, then I'd nip next door to a business meeting at the pub.
At around 10pm well oiled I'd nip back to the dance and there would be the greatly improved 'not so good looking' have the last slow waltzes with her, finishing with the Quaker Dance 'once round the floor and outside for your oats' now these girls were greatfull F-King greatfull!!!!!

Now my m8s would go for the No10 girls, they would have to stay with them all night to stop others stepping in and when the dance was over dad would be waiting in the car to take em home.

The pleasures of youth!!!!!!
