After reading all the reports and looking at the website, I had been looking forward to checking this place out. Convinced my mia noi to check it out Thursday night. Stopped by for a "early evening" cocktail a little after 8pm (I realize it's a little early but I thought this place opened at 6pm). Just trying to give some honest feedback here as I know that there are posters here with financial interests in the place.
Glow is a dance club, not Go Go bar like Baccara. How can you compare the two?
FYI....people in Europe and the USA dont get to clubs until after 11. So, why should you expect it crowded at 8 when people are still eating.

Personally I could care less how many people are there at Glow. It is a tool for a specific job. For me that job is getting some good drinks in a nice setting, with good tunes, where I have some space. It is a place where you and your friends can get primed up to go elsewhere and find girls later. It is also a place where you can take a girl if you want to talk to her, get her drunk, and then take her back to your place.
Many a good nights have been started at Glow with some fellow members of the Forum. If I was out on a date I would take a normal girl to Glow anytime, definately not Qbar. Like I said, it fits a certain niche.
Point taken...that being you like the place. I was just giving my bad first impression and I admit I was there fairly early (but I think they open early as well). Anyway, you are assuming all the drinks on SC are crappy.....actually, some are fairly decent. I admit I'm not a real heavy drinker (neither is my girl) so if your main objective is to get messed up quickly then this sounds like your place.
And for the record I'm not an old-timer. I like good Hip Hop and other tunes that are usually popular with the masses. My girl and I love to dance.
Think I might be better suited for the RCA crowd and will have to check it out as I haven't been back there for almost 10 years. Was just adding my opinion on the place even though I knew it wouldn't be popular with the posters here.

Fair enough...guess I had read in this post that this was a good place to start the evening out but as I was the only one there and it seemed so dead and not all that inviting, I was just disappointed. Anyway, just trying to give an opinion on the place. I'm sure others might/will like it more than me.
Your point on being there at a later hour is well-taken. Maybe I will try again someday. It probably also helps to have had a few drinks first. However, with "Father Thaksin" and his closing regulations, 11-1am can be a fairly small window when travelling around in Bangkok.

It is not easy to convince people to not go to the overprices hotel bars, but to come after work to GLOW for some great wines, cocktails and wicked drinks. It is normal for instance in Hong Kong, but bangkok seems to be knowing only hotel bars when they need to get a drink with their business partners, life partners after work.
But we keep pushing it. We are doing some bigger marketing efforts to get this working.

Yes I did, she's GF#2 but soon to be #1. We like to go to many kinds of venues (Gogo's b/c I usually have male friends who are tourists and single, Discos b/c we like to dance, Silom Soi4, Khao San, etc.). Unfortunately, we are kind of stuck in a routine with these places and would like to branch out some more....thus my initial interest in Glow.
Anyway, may try again at later date but am also keen on checkin out RCA as I haven't been there since it originally opened (back when I was doing my MBA at ABAC...and hanging out with the "Hi So's".....ughhh).

Actually another good purpose for 'GLOW' is that it is a good ice breaker with customers. You go there after a business dinner and have a couple of nice drinks. There are no free lancers hanging around and the atmosphere is totally legit with good drinks, you will be able to find a seat etc...
Then being that there are no loose girls hanging about the customer usually suggests "Hey this is a nice club, but I would like to see some girls"
Then I say well there is this place called Soi Cowboy that we can walk to that seems to have some girls there.
So after a short walk it is off to the Go-go's we go at which I am usually greeted like a long lost friend and my customer then realises that I am just as big of a pervert as him and we can do a lot of future business together.
I had one customer that was a born-again Christian, so GLOW was as far as I made it. Had I suggested that we go to some Go-go's for entertainment that would have been the end of my deals.
Fortunately, those types are few and far between and the majority are perverts. One in fact said, the reason we do buiness with you guys is because you are based in Thailand and it provides an excuse to leave the battle ax back in the states.
This week I had the best voBKa that I have ever tasted in my life there. I think they have over 40 different ones on stock. Straight out of tall iced shot glasses with no ice. It was smooth as silk. We finished off the bottle it was so good. I don't remember the name????
