According to my relatives here in Ubon Ratchatani, the government building that issues ID cards and the like has been burned.

There was a lot of smoke this afternoon that I could see. We went to Big C to stock up on food, and while we were there we were told that there was a bomb threat against Big C and Lotus. People were being told to leave Big C.

Also, there is suppose to be a curfew established here tonight.

On the TV all they are playing music and saying there is an important announcement coming soon.

Same stuff happening in Udon Thani, mainly downtown at the main govt office.

Didn't hear about any curfew for Udon Thani!!!

Understand govt office set ablaze, and 1 or 2 people dead.

Guys watching the Thai Tv is a waste of Time!

You know they won't show the real Facts.

Better of using the internet to get information, things will never be the same as the Government has let these reds get away with to much!

In Australia we get Hourly News Breaks on this Mess, many times the cameraman shows a red with a hand gun etc shooting at the Army, these people should be arrested or Shot!

The Mentally of a Lot of Thais is the Problem or lack of it.

Lets face it these morons will think I got away with shooting at policeman or solider I can do it again.

If I was living in Thailand which I'm not nor Never will I'd be off to a safe Country for a couple of months to see what will
happen next ?

Good Luck all head down and stay safe.

Thanks. We are safe at relative's house. I know watching Thai TV doesn't get you a lot of information. I have been using the Internet and also listening to the relatives, who get their information in different ways.

AFAIK, things have been quiet here.

One thing - they closed all the ATMs starting at 8pm last night. As soon as I heard about the curfew I had them drive me to the end of the soi where there is an ATM and draw out the maximum cash. Got there with an hour to spare.

Of course, cash is no good if there is nothing to buy. But, the little markets are open and stuff is available today.

We don't live in Thailand. We just visit a couple of months at a time.

What these people are really good at is lounging about all day in their hammocks. Watching the world go by and being too lazy to lift a finger to do any work.

The sooner these people go back to their hammocks the better it wiil be for the land of smiles.

Let's go back several years when the elite called "The Yellow Shirts" took over the Intl. Airports and closed down the whole country. This was done in protest of the governemnt that was appointed by the military. It seems the newly military appointed government was too closely related to the ways of Thaskin, which was to help the poor class and farmers.

That was okay but now we have the same situation going on with the poor class and farmers BUT, they only want to have elections. I suppose you don't have elections in the land of Oz.

The last time I read up on Democarcy, there were elections involved in one way or another.

Maybe it should be called "The Peoples Republic of Thailand" No democracy.

I'm not condoning what they are doing, or shall I say how they are doing it, but I do support them and I hope this will wake up the politicans in Bangkok and have some respect for those that do the work.

The caretaker government appointed by the military is not closely related to Thaksin. As matter of fact, they are actively anti TRT and Thaksin regime.

We came back from a shopping tour around the city.

The only place burned was the Government House, where Thai IDs and the like are processed. It is a hollow, burned out shell. Lots of Thais stopping to look. We didn't stop, just drove by slowly.

All banks closed. ATMs are working. Still have the 8pm curfew. Places like Robinson's, Big C, Lotus were all open, but will close at 6pm. A lot of small shops, maybe 10%, are closed (but have not been damaged).

At the local village market not a lot of vendors and not a lot of food for sale - but no acts of violence anywhere. Probably they either just didn't want to take a chance or maybe their supply chain was damaged.

AFAIK, no run on food or other essentials.

Traffic normal. Here people just seem to be waiting to see what is next.
