Though I generally like Salon.com I stumbled across this old article that, though certainly not as bad as some, represents the typical judgemental and somewhat distorted veiw that many will have of the scene; especially dare I say, female observers.

Nokna: She must be a lesbian? Really? Certainly a lesibain but I doubt a lesbian. As for her taking up that girl's offer; I actually agree. I imagine she might well have come away with a diffrent perspective and attitude regarding P4P in Thailand.

The first sentence in the article tells you all you need to know.
So I'm sitting in this Bangkok sex show, wondering why I don't want to throw up.
Clearly a person who would prefer the sterile comforts of groupthink and conforming to an agenda over the pleasures and pains of individual perception and refinement of personal values.

VJ: Indeed.
That sentence does as much as any to delineate what bothers me about the article: not that someone would be disapproving or that they would have a veiw that was superficial and based largely on ignorance but the absolute prejudice inherent in it. This woman came with her verdict on what she would see already prepared.
On the other hand, the sentence is interesting in another way -- the fact that she isn't as disgusted as she feels she should be, is telling in itself.
