Terminal 21 has opened since the last time I was in BKK. Almost directly opposite the Asoke BTS, it is a short walk from where I usually stay.

I primarily went there to find the AEON ATMs, which are 1 level down from street level with the rest of the banks. Levels are named after cities and/or regional areas. AEON is on the Caribbean Floor. One floor up from the street level, which can be accessed directly from the BTS, is called Paris.

Lots and lots of high-end stores with high-end prices. I have no idea why any foreigners would shop there, since you can find the same stores in any major city in the world.

My wife and I laughed as we continued up the escalator. A higher floor was San Francisco. We just left from there. They even had a partial replica of the Golden Gate Bridge. And, of course, they ripped off the sign for Pier 39 in SF and renamed it Terminal 21.

Best part of Terminal 21, IMO, are the food options. 2 food courts - one at the San Francisco level (or just above - looks like the SF level is really 2 levels) where you buy a food card and then use it to buy food at the many shops. When you are done you can redeem the card for your remaining cash. We ate well for less than 100bt each.

The other food court is on the Caribbean level. We didn't try it. The higher-level food court looks much more attractive.

There are also a lot of regular restaurants, including MK, Tony Roma's and many Japanese and Seafood restaurants.

It was fun wandering around. The floor above Paris had a British flavor, with some security guys wearing uniforms similar to those worn by the guards at Buckingham Palace. Females might have a lot of fun browsing the various shops. Don't know what guys would do, except to pay for the stuff bought by females.

The food court upstairs was very popular. Seats at 6pm were hard to come by. My wife suggested that the small food court below Robinson's on Soi 17 probably lost a lot of customers.

Open 10am to 10pm.

BK,

If you mean office cuties, there are certainly some. But, more and more I see over-fed and under-exercised ones. Sad, as there used to be eye-candy everywhere and now you (or at least I) have to look harder for it.

Funny thing I saw at the upper food court: there is a KFC within view. When the KFC girls took a break where did they go to eat? The food court!

I'll be at Big Dogs around 7:30pm Thursday with KB and the good Doctor. Feel free to drop by and say hi.

Best part is the toilets.. You can change the temperature of the seats and the temperature and direction of the water jet that cleans your arse. Plus to top it all off there is a fan to dry you afterwards.

Very high Tech (and Japanese)

Yes, my TGF was very impressed about the toilets.

And actually, in some of the 'sois' you can find female fashion articles in small shops which are different from the mainstream stuff bought in Platinum shops.

My GF found some nice high quality shoes for a reasonable price.

I love the large size London Double decker bus shop and the food court is good too.....

In the basement are a bunch of food places including a bakery etc

Haven't been here. Since this is so hi-so (therefore a good target), am just curious about the security angle. Is it there? MBK has metal detectors and security guards at the entrance, and it's not a luxury mall. On the other hand, there are no physical checks at Platinum, Robinson, Big C, Pantip. Don't know about Siam Paragon, Emporium, etc as I haven't been there in a long while.

K,

The 2 entrances that I noticed on the ground floor both had metal detectors and a guard. Don't know about the BTS entrance on the 2nd floor, but probably the same.

However, people were coming in through the EXIT doors and weren't stopped, so I wouldn't say that security was all that tight. Much easier to slip into Terminal 21 than MBK. (Not to mention that, if you drive, there are NO checks that I saw to get into Terminal 21.)

Most stores (I guess) would be considered hi-so. But, the upper food court seems to be a good value for the quality and surroundings and many people take advantage of it.

Baskoy - do all the restrooms have these toilets, or only a couple? I've read about the $6,000USD Japanese toilets, but wasn't willing to spend the money for them.

BTW, massageslave mentioned a chocolate drink that he really liked. Does anyone know where to get it? I'd like to try it out since its so close.

The mind boggles at this insouciance. Are these guys for real?

I guess it will be safer to take a cue from Baskoy's inputs instead and pay a toilet visit very early in the morning and savour the delight of those water jets.
