Open a Euro account, transfer your surplus into Euro accounts, and use currency from that when you need Baht. I found that by sending stuff into Euros at least keeps it from depreciating as fast as the dollar does these days.
So far, it worked out.

Baht is going strong, heading up against virtually everything else.
Check out Baht to Yen rate for the past few months, and also check out Baht to Euro rate for the past few months. One would realize how well the Baht is doing right now. Don't just blame G.W. or fall of USD.
Simply baht is up.

if you have read any of my posts over the last few years my jabs at "dubya" are always there whether its economy, iraq, stem cell research, gay rights, his inability to speak in public etc
it is kinda my MO...its all in fun...and as I stated in my previous post I know its not all his fault (just a little lol!)
I only checked dollar and pound...and the pound was still a strong 69.something...the baht is getting stronger may be fact and I am not sure how that will affect average thai's???????????
I just know from a selfish standpoint...it sucks for me, and fellow yanks !!.......mai pen lai

The tide ebbs and flows,, it was only 30 odd years ago you Amerrrrricans would have to pay US$1.27 for a measley Aus dollar. Then it was only the year before last 1 AUD was 49.2 cents US.
AUD verses BAHT is around 28-29, I can live with that. And it is expected to rise over the next few months possibly into the 29-30 BHT bracket.
My trip when it was 20 BAHT was not a nice one: (
I wouldn't be betting against the Thai BAHT in the short term, it has remained strong even with a military coup'
All financial advice is given from a point of stupidity and thus results may vary

to be honest, as soon as I land and get a shower at SW...I could care f***ing less
my wife on the other hand sends her $$$ back to her family every month and they are getting less now.
she blames the new government....I said well it may be a very good thing that the baht is stronger to the dollar for your country, thaksin didnt want farang to influence his economy...she says "I dont care I live Merika now and wuk hard and dolla go down..mai dee" (bless her heart!)

ATL, same same for me,, we send AUD to wifes family,, not easy to explain when AUD went from near 31 BHT down to 27 now back at 28.
Honestly I feel the best way is to try and set something up in thailand they can do,, you know about my farm type business, it puts the responsibility for money back on the familky and makes importance of exchange rates negated. Most importantly for you, is the family are generating their own income after a settling in period, they can be proud of what they have achieved, you can be proud of what you have done for them.Win win.

But ( why is there always a BUTT bin the road),, Isaan people,, god bless their caring souls and laid back nature but somehow they are pre-programmed to FAIL.
Just offered my brother-in-law the manager position for the farm,, pay rate 30% above his last job etc etc.
What where the first words out of his mouth ??????

Such enthusiasm, such commitment to the enterprise,,,LOL. There IS a basic, I dare say, genetic trait toward failure in the majority of Thai people,,,,,,, sad thing.
I see that I have little option than to DRIVE this enterprise,,,, I JUST HOPE THE FRUSTRATIONS DON'T KILL ME BEFORE THEY SEE IT can BE A SUCCESS.
