Have tried several of the dinner cruises and enjoyed the Chao Phraya Princess the best as it has a band on the stern - dancing in the moonlight after a candlelight dinner, cool breezes on a hot night, temples, etc. lighted along the banks. Doesn't get more romantic than that for a memorable GFE.
Departs from pier/ticket office near the big River Center mall, near Royal Orchid Sheraton at 1930 and lasts a couple of hours. Buy tickets early and then explore River Center or have drinks at the pleasant outdoor riverside sala Thai restaurant nearby while waiting, as Princess fills on weekend/special event nights. Or book tickets in town at an agency. Also board early to get choice of window seats. Costs a little over 1000 Baht per person, approx. $30 US.
Don't forget camera.

dance, I have done a dinner cruse on a old converted teak bardge, very nice views, average dinner, old fashioned Thai music played on one of those old sting instumemts by a very pretty lady in traditonal dress.
Fantastic as a thunderstorm came out to play and gave us our own light show.
Booked it with hotel travel agent about 1200thb each with transfers I think.

I took my first non-Bargirl date on a Riverside Cruise. That was a very good setting for it, the seating arrangements by the table were such that we sat next to each other and a guy with a microphone commented upon everything we passed allong the way by the river. Hence, as she was a little shy, it was not akward not to converse all the time.
Good ice-breaker.
