Ive been over-doing it on the somtam and oysters lately, and felt in some dire need of farang food so I took the GF up to the Londoner Bar. The NZ Steak and Kidney Pie has be seen (and tasted) to be believed. Forget your notions of what a pie is...these are massive, puff pastry, full of the great meat, mushrooms, and rich gravy. Order it with the mashed potato and cauliflower cheese - you won't regret it. Not cheap at 360baht, but worth every satang in my view. And wash it down with a couple of pints of their Londoner Cream Bitter.
Oh the joy.....
Incidentally, I introduced TGF to the delights of a roast dinner also. 'Chop mak mak,' she says although she couldn't quite work out what to do with the Roast Pork Crackling

The lamb shanks at the Londoner are as good a meal as I have ever had anywhere. They melt in your mouth. I have had them now 5 times, perfect every time. I usually substitute cheese/cauliflower for the veggies. The mashed are a bit thick, but that is how I like them.

Sounds like a bargain compared to what I had at the Outback Steakhouse Siam Discovery yesterday. Feeling inclined the same as you, scobie, I ordered up the prime rib [b499] with mash.
Made my heart sink when they laid down the platter-- the slab wasn't much thicker than a burger patty. 
My date had the fish and chips, and I had two red wines to her one and they whacked us for b1433.  Last time I'll be popping in there I reckon.

Have eaten at a London pub a short walk down the road 25m from Nana Plaza. It is on the same side of the road as Dynasty Inn. This London pub serves English food too. A small cosy place.

On Scobie’s suggestion, I went for the steak and kidney pie yesterday. Coming from a country known for a bit more refined food, I still found the steak and kidney pie quite doable. Doable that is.
The pub brewn beer is total and complete cat-piss though. Tasted like dish water to me. It surprised me they didn’t have Guinness. Had to cross the street to the Dubliner for a decent pint.
