It's strange that no one from this forum ever asked about boat restaurants (nothing found from search).
Anyway, I'm interested in those boat restaurants cruising along the Chao Phraya river at sunset. Anyone knows anything about them?
They're priced from 900B - 1200B per person. Wondering what the food are like and if the price already including the food.

Price includes the food and soft drinks/tea/coffee. Food is OK but you are better off paying a bit more and going on the ones from Oriental or Shangri-La Hotels. As you would expect the food and service is superb and its less crowded. The big boats can be a bit of a bun fight with the Chinese tourists hogging the buffet.

The Oriental Hotel Dinner cruise is superb.
Always a winner when you have guests visiting.
Start with a drink in the Bamboo Bar.
Superb evening.

Try out the "Wan Fah" dinner cruise. About 2 hours, 950 Baht per person, good food, and traditional Thai entertainment in a Thai-style wooden boat.

Thanks guys. That's exactly what I'm after. So the price is inclusive of everything and the time is around 2 hours? That's a bit rush though. I thought it would last all night (7pm-11pm).
Do you recommend to book these boat restaurants in advance and be picked up from the hotel?

Not inclusive of booze or we would all be on it (though I seem to remember we got a welcoming cocktail or two).
Yes ring the hotels and book in advance. You dont want to turn up and its full or off. I have in mind that some of them dont run if its pissing down.
The girly will be well impressed!

I tried one of the Yok Yor cruises with some friends a few weeks ago and think we went on Boondarika (see the website). It's a bit different from other dinner boat cruises, because we ordered off a menu, rather than having it all in, which some people might prefer.
Really good food though - the sea snails in particular were great - but they can only cook some of the dishes on the boat itself. The rest are prepared in the river-side restaurant and so are only available to order before you "set sail" (8pm I think), so get there before 7.30 for the full selection.
It seemed more popular with locals than with tourists, although the tour guide did explain the sights in English as well as Thai. Ironically, the background music for the tour guide voiceover was the theme from Titanic.
Oh, and you may have to "enjoy" a bit of karaoke on the way back too. People seemed to get quite a kick from singing to the whole of Bangkok from the top of an open air boat...
