Gulivers Tavern (GT) in Sukhumvit Soi 5 is a very popular hangout in the evenings. A nice place to grab a beer and play some pools.
But the food? Not very impressing.
I have not tried their Thai menu, but the western menu is no good.
I do not know what got me to order a meal there last night. I've tried it once before, but that was a year ago.
So I ordered a steak with baked potatoe at approx 400 baht. For what I got I would say this was like an armed robbery:
The steak itself was not all that bad, I would say a tad below average. But it was put on a plate with a tiny, tiny baked potatoe. They likely had some problems balancing the stuffings on top of it.
I had baked potatoes in Thailand before, so I know potatoes grow bigger than this.
So in general: With the price VS quality I would have to say: In GT, stick with the beer and the girls. Stay away from the food.

I always thought the fiid is OK if you just need something to keep you going. Admit its not 5* gourmet but edible.
The fish and chips at 125 baht is fine...so is some of their thai food. I always like their Masaman Chicken curry.

Quite right MSB old chap. The cheeseburgers are great. The scallopini is good as are the chicken fingers (from the Appetizers menu but a full meal anyway).
The Thai food - like Yam Pla Muat (Squid) is very very expensive compared to what you will pay in that alley between Soi 5 & Soi 7. Tasty & pang.

Sorry, IMHO the Cheeseburgers suck as unfortunately does most of the food there unless there has been a drastic improvement in the past 3 weeks?

Well I have eaten at Gullies many times and never been disappointed once. The food is at least as good as any Denny's, Holiday Inn or good diner in the USA.
And anyway, it is primarily a bar and pool venue, so the fact that they do food as well as they do shows a good management is in place.
In fact no place in Bangkok can I think of where you can get a decent meal AND then pick up a hot FL for an evening of fun, titilation and sweet physical satisfaction to boot.
You want more ?..... go elsewhere. Simple.

thai snacks are okay
steak sandwich medium, too.
dont expect a 5star dining experience.
its a pub for christsake.

I have had the Chicken Parmasean and it was OK, not as good as a good Italian Restaurant, but much cheaper and as commented above, the 'ambiance' can not be beat...

I have eaten there on three separate occasions over a 12 month period & found the food to be bland & not a lot of it!
No improvement noted & I do not plan to eat there again. I prefer Foodland to GT's for a quick pre-drink snack...& that show's how high my standards are set for food related issues prior to drinking.
