The food stalls just outside of Nana are actually pretty good and they have a lot of selection of various meats and seafood that are barbaqued on the spot. You won't get the local Thai 3 baht price, but they are easy to find.
I had some good satay from a cart there on soi 4 at the entrance to NEP (to the left looking into NEP). I think I had pork, chicken and beef? The vendor brushes these with some sort of marinade (not peanut-based) as they barbeque. They are spicy and very very good.
