I think it is called american breakfast worldwide pretty much, and implies a fry up of western cruddy food, and coffee.
Continental breakfast from europe implies cold stuff with toast.
Niether is probably what people actulaly eat, although American breakfasts in America do seem to be fried slop mostly, just in far larger quantities. In fact, rather than calling someting "supersize" they might as well call it "American size" - man Americans can eat a lot!! (not sure what other american things are especially large, but certainly plates of food, guts, and shirt sizes are large 
In Yerp, that I saw, they didn't eat this sort of stuff.
Plenty of good coffee to be had in the world; I would not have thought many American coffee chains and especially not Starbucks would be among that list. And I wouldnt think too many places if any in Thailand would be on the list either.

The thing I dislike about Starbucks is that their so-called "perfect" coffee is served to you in a lousy paper cup - it doesn't warrant a proper cup, saucer and spoon. If you have a cappucino you must put your own chocolate powder on it yourself and carry it to your table yourself.
And they charge you twice as much for this unique priveledge! No wonder I never go there now.

Well, I have lived in USA; my father and brother both worked in USA as well - I know the west coast ok, and this is my perception.
There is a ton of good food in USA - no doubt. But American breakfasts around the world are mostly crap, and have no real relationship to American good food there, in the same way as American Fried Rice has no relationship to American food either.
That said, I was shocked on an ongoing basis watching what people eat in USA - and the quantities eaten. I think almost everyone is shocked by this. Even a lot of my American friends are impressed watching eachother eat. Businesses like Planet Hollywood failed here in Thailand (although obviously sick with other problems too) partly because they figured that people around the world eat similar quantities to their American clientele. Sadly, not the case.
Supersize me is a great expose on the American diet. Check it out.
If you asked me about ethnicity... well I have only commented on food, on the other hand I pretty much have to read and wade through what usually amounts to out and out racism on a fair few of these english language boards about Thai people and Thailand. Each person is entitled to their opinion, so I usually don't respond unless there is something specific I disagree with. Ditto the other countries I have spent significant time in, or the other country I am a citizen of.
If someone can tell me where a great cup of coffee is, I am all ears... actually I am off to USA in just 3 weeks, so I'd love to know of a chain that serves coffee of decent quality - Starbucks doesn't. Plenty of good one off cafes, same as most places - but no chains that I know of.... yet!
So, help a lad out, and tell me I'm wrong and point me where to go!

As for US breakfast, portions are one thing, flavor is another. Not everyone has to eat all that is put before them. But the taste of these servings usually is quite appetizing. Fresh eggs, meats and breads usually are the standard but obviously are not to everyone's taste.
For American breakfasts in LOS, I would recomend any of the 5 star hotels. Sunday brunch at the Sheraton is overwhelming.
Supe SIze Me is not an expose' in my opinion. It is an exaggeration with the guy deliberately over eating.
Unfortunately there are too many Americans overweight and this is catching on around the rest of the world.

In America's defense.... if I could eat In and Out everyday, I think I would be fat too.
Throw away the Mcs, that stuff is so bad for you.
In and Out is much better - more suturated fats
