The Oriental does an excellent eat all you want buffet on the River Terrace,last time I went (about 6mth ago) I think it was around 2000-2500 per head, a little expensive but well worth a one off visit,lovely food and a good setting.
In Pattaya try the Dusit resort about 1000 per head and V good food.

Does the buffet on the terrace include any thai food or is it purely international? Failing which does anyone know which is the best riverside restaurant at the Oriental serving thai food?

I always founf that Chequers and Jools on soi 4 the best for sunday, anyday, lunch.
After eating Thai for several weeks I went into Jools and thought I would have a change and ordered (forget what now). Large plate and good food.
Couldn't finish it and was almost sick. Nothing wrong with the food, back home I would have had no problem. Just my body was not use to it and I was rather shocked at my reaction to eating it.

Dinkum91 it should be both. Two waitress's one is the hors d'oeuvres and the other the dessert

As Woody said in his original post, he wanted quality and didn't care about the price. So why are people getting out of bed about suggesting the Oriental at 2500?
Horses for Courses..
For the same price you could go into Jools or Chequers have a good Sunday Roast for around 300 nip down to the Cat House and for another 300 indulge in two hours (maybe more) of all you can drink Chang. Then stagger over to the Bier Garten pick up a couple of middle aged slappers take em back to your hotel and brutalise the pair of them until the early hours,before falling asleep whilst belching and farting contentedly....
Two completely different nights out but both enjoyable in their own way.
