I had some stomach problems in certain Caribbean countries after trying local food, but never in LOS, and I've visited the food carts a lot.
Actually, I found the Thai cuisine to be very light and easily digestible.

But I think you should better avoid tap water, unwashed fruits and so on.. just to be on the safe side.

Fritz of the well-reasoned and researched answers in other forums. Not to get too far off thread here, but read your original post and response to Beer Barone and Thin White Duke's blind support of the recent military action.
It is truly amazing how quickly some forget the original justifications for military action, and how forgiving some can be when those justifications are well and truly debunked and the powers that be just invent another equally spurious justification!
In the television age, a reasoned argument is structured around ten, twenty and thrity second sound bites - 'cause if it takes longer than that, people will get bored, disinterested and move on.
Oh well.
Food carts, here I come!

Anyone try the fried beetles? ŬI had a couple TG's tell me they were really good. ŬThey didn't seem to understand my hesitation.
My understanding is the food is generally safe because of the quick turnaround. ŬI restricted myself to the pineapple, papaya, and corn on the cob, however.

I sampled some beetles and bugs when I was in Bangkok last month (from a cart at the entrance to Soi Cowboy) and they were great! Crisp, crunchy and delicious! We washed them down with a few Heinekens.

Well, I'm just willing to try new and unusual things I guess, thaiaficionado. But not the stuff brother rhombus is in to - check out his field report!
My attitude has always been "when in Rome..." (although I've never been to Rome).
As far as the bugs were concerned, there was quite a "brag" factor involved - I enjoyed telling people here back home about it and watching their reactions. It's definitely something I'd like to do again and will do more of when I am living there permanently.

They're really not that bad brother Thai. The fried grasshoppers taste like bacon and the trick to eating the beetles is to open the middle and eat the insides, especially the egg sack. An aquired taste  . Peace
