My grandfather was on a tour with a theater group through thailand and vietnam. After the premier in one town/village was over, the troup was taken to a local tavern for dinner. Everyones favorite dish were these little white capsules that exploded in your mouth with delicious sweet flavor. The troup wanted to know what these things were but the interperter had a problem translating the name. So a couple of the actors were taken in the back, outside, to be shown what this delicious food was.
Outside there was a fire with a large pot with a sugary broth boiling. One of the chefs took out a rotten piece of meat,left out in the sun for weeks, and put it on a spit over the pot. After a bit of time maggots began to crawl out of the disintegrating flesh and falling into the boiling sugary broth.
You can imagine the results.
By the way, any of you know where I can try this recipy in Bangkok?

Their is no sanitation at the food carts. Same dirty rag is used to wipe off the knife and is then used to wipe the cutting board. No handwashing station. I watched one vendor wash his pot and dishes using no soap. Wiped the pot out with the same dirty rag. What fridge for the meat or sea food? Soup is made with tap water. The list goes on.......

That's what makes the food taste so good LOL!
I like the taste of the foodcart food better than a resteraunt, but I usually have the shits after eating it. That's the price you pay.
