I used to live in Colorado (USA) and we called those bull parts Rocky Mountain Oysters. They are sliced and fried in a batter. It's not bad and it's hard to tell what they are unless someone tells you.

They are supposed to be good but I cannot picture eating a bulls nuts, no matter how they are cooked. They actually have a rocky mountain oyster festival close to where I live, every year.

X, Yes, I am TOTO. SMEGMA, Spanish is my mother tongue and the words you mentioned in your last post refering to BALLS are correct. The word "BALLS" has different translations depending on the country you are. Widely use in Latin America and Spain are "cojones" and also "huevos" and "bolas". No matter where you are WE will understand these words although ALL of them are very rude. The correct way to refer to them are "testiculos". The word "criadillas" is ONLY refered to bull's cooked balls and I particularly do not like it. "Pinga" is a Spanish slang and means "dick" only in few places in South America and Spain. Other latino countries have different names for our little fella........I was laughing with BK the time I chose this word as a new nick.... seubeu & ZZZZZ So you have tried "anticuchos" huh? That is a nice stuff....I must confess that this is the only way I can possibly intake a cooked internal organ.... Oooops this is thread for EATING DOG....look where we are now....sorry for being off topic guys....

Mine too, so I guess we do not need to tell each other about the meanings of these words any more But to the rest out there, someone mentioned eating cow's stomach in Spain. Probably the poster was referring to a dish called "Callos" in Spain, in other places in South America it is "Mondongo". But the two are prepared very differently. As for dog, I was once in a roadside restaurant in Vietnam and was served some meat. After having a few pieces I asked what it was, ...they could not explain it -they spoke English badly-, but I understood it was something that was around that they caught themselves. I was left wondering if it was dog. I do not know what it is I ate, but if it was dog ..... I must say that I liked it and it was very good. The experience left me wanting to try dog for sure -to verify if it has the same taste of what I ate that one time in Vietnam. I hope I am able to do it one day -who knows? maybe in Korea

when i had the 'Prairie Oysters',i did'nt have a clue what they were. i was with my uncle and we stopped off in a god forsaken restaurant in the middle of nowhere, just off I-90. the menu described them as 'meatballs'.....lol. i like meatballs and in the UK we have a wonderful dish called Faggots(no jokes please),so i ordered them. they were wonderful and it was only afterwards that i was told what they were, but no worries,i enjoyed them. the major problem i had was i ordered a beer, and not understanding the way of things i ended up with 4 pints of Budweiser!!!!!!!!. the beer is crap in the first place, but having to force 4 pints down my throat was torture. and as Pinga says, sorry for going off topic when it's about dogs.

Pinga, yes, I loved the anticuchos. I'm also glad to see that I must have got the word right. And ditto on the internal organs thing. I wasn't even mildly amused with kidneys, intestine, stomach, etc. Even liver gags me, except for a nice foie gras.

That was me. It was ordering from a restaurant with some mates on a trip to Madrid. We'd been out all night drinking and needed some food. Found a little place that was actually open relatively early for sitdown on a Sunday morning (IIRC). I don't speak Spanish (it's my grandfather's first language, but has died out of my family over the years), but can struggle through bits having grown up in Florida and travelled a bit in South America. Through pigin I was able to make out that the dish was "beef" and a very popular local dish. It was tripe soup, maybe like menudo in the Americas, except I would never order menudo since I know what that is, so I'm not certain they were the same. Ended up ordering some paella in addition, which was also not very good, so maybe it was the restaurant.

NOKNA, Don't feel good talking about animal stomach dishes? Well, I also don't like 'em. That "mondongo" stuff is something beyond me.... Back to the topic.... I saw not only chickens and ducks hanging in hooks in the fresh markets of Vietnam. I saw a sort of "goat" more than once with some black hair left on the tail....those guys were slaughtered dogs and the heads were on display by the butcher at the stall....what a experiene!!!!
