You know those nasty mini sausage things that look, feel and taste like a cross between a hot dog and one of those canned cocktail wieners. They are at the American Breakfast buffets in every hotel. They come in regular flavour (whatever that is) and chicken. Usually I stick with a plate of fruit on those rare occasions that I make it down to breakfast, but on occasion I want a true American breakfast with pancakes and real saussage etc. I have never seen these things in North, Central or South America, so where are they from?

They remind me of those mock chicken loaves at a deli that are made with turkey...what is the point.

Those are the canned ones, the cocktail wieners. The ones at the buffets are very similiar to those but a little longer, about 3 inches in total and drier. They are the closest thing to them I have seen. These could be Austrian also...Perhaps they should offer an Austrian breakfast with rooms.

My beef is that they call it an american breakfast but I have never seen them on a breakfast menu in America. The sausage things are the most disgusting meat type product I have ever eaten.

I always see lots of people eating them at breakfast. Not the TG's, they only prod them a bit.

What I can't stand, is when they call it an 'American Breakfast', but then charge you for the second cup of coffee.

They do need the bottomless cup idea but try to explain that to your Thai waitress.

At least I have not come across Marmite.

If you get free refills on your coffee, then either the coffee sucks or the breakfast is very cheap. Try getting a free refill at Starbucks in America.

Not a big fan of Starbucks or any of the chain coffee houses. I love a cappuchino but it pisses me off that I am paying more for it than the bar next door charges for a beer. When you have a couple of double caps it adds up. For those prices, I should get a free refill. However, I would not mind owning a dozen or so Starbucks.

The bottomless cup is more a diner greasy spoon, or a hotel buffet thing. Does Denny's still do it?

Starbucks is NOT, per se, a restaurant. Oh, you can get a muffin and sit around and read the newspaper, but a restaurant it is not.
I've NEVER been charged for a refill in any "real" restaurant in the U.S.
Starbucks in BKK sucks even more than in the U.S. You ask for "plain, black, American style Coffee" and they hand you a cup of instant coffee, but at least it comes with a smile. Anyone know where to get a GOOD cup of coffee in BKK?
