Thanks for the advice, guys. As I mentioned I am going with my wife so a quiet area of the island is fine. And its 10,000 points/night which is cheap. The Conrad will be 40,000 points/night when it opens. I've seen some recent photos and reviews of the hotel on flyertalk.com and I think it will be fine for our 5 nights. And the price is right. My challenge is to see if I can sneak away for a ST. Other ST suggestions would be welcome.

As Abrak said, go to Christins in Patong, usually lots of TG's to choose from and a great way to spend a couple of hours!

I love the Arcadia, very relaxing resort. Stayed there 3 times, always during off season ($72). I like to stay there a few nights when I first arrive in Phuket and then move to a hotel in Patong for the rest of the vacation.
I don't recall any action nearby though. I probably wouldn't recommend searching either, you'll just waste time wandering down the roads. Take the 15 minute taxi to Patong and hit up Christins like the others have said. It will probably be the quickest and easiest thing to do. You just have to come up with a good excuse so you can dissapear for a couple hours. chok dee

I personally love the Hilton in Phuket. Yes it is big, but the service is impeccable. Guest Friendly...I never had a problem..as long as the girl is dressed discreetly. Great Breakfast, Easy Access to Beach. Rent a Scooter and the Guard by the beach crosswalk will guard it at night for you when you parki it. Easy access to Kata, Karon, and Patong.
