the bars I was in at NEP last night were packed.
with dancing girls, not customers.
i have avoided the bars the last week in the belief they would be mobbed with guys and girls just willing to do Sts.
seems I was wrong......
let's see what tonight holds.....

Actually raising the price when you cant find buyers for something is a technique that work...why I dont know, but I used this technique to resell a car recently...when it was at a cheap price I got lots of phone calls and people coming but no buyer, then I raised the price (50%!) and it was sold in 24 hours...

funny.......we all agree buznit is down.
but why?
its not so much the economies of the world. japanese are back travelling..................
its the airport closing followed by the burning of bangkok...............i could be rong.
the redshirts wanted to show their muscle and in doing so hurt all thais.
free visas...........big deal......normal tourists dont stay 3 months.

... tourist traffic to Thailand could be down for different reasons for different regions.
... the Asian economies are economically less impacted, and Asian tourists are financially able to travel, but they are not very intrepid travellers... these are guys who know to what real social disruption can quickly reduce and how incompetent police and Army can lose control and over-react... Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Taiwanese are particularly sensitive to the threat of violence in the street, and probably have little confidence in the Thai government's ability to handle it.
... Westerners seem a bit more adventuresome, having no recent histories real widespread civil disorder, we are perhaps a bit less fearful of the threat of violence... but, the lower traffic from the West could be a consequence of the economy.
... whatever the reason, many of us suspect Thailand is not attracting the tourists they previously pulled... the TAT in-bound passenger counts simply do not match what we see on the streets and in the hotels
... you need only to look at the darkened BKK hotels in the evenings to see that occupancies are down... despite the great rates now available in the middle of high season.
... and none of us would doubt the TAT is fudging the evidence of the problem.

I didnt think the bars were much more crowded last night than on a saturday night. At 10pm I was in Shark, and had watched most girls at the shift change go off to sit alone, rather than be busy with a customer....I dont know if the 1200B BF was a factor....
at Bangkok beat for midnight, the crowd was less than normal for a weekend....
at 1am, while it was pretty crowded at Tilac, there were also a good number of BF-worthy girls circulating....

Noticed the same thing. Been here a while and the normal profile for high season seems to be a ramp up from lated Nov peaking mid Dec to early Jan and a slow ramp down to end of Feb, however this year nothing till 2nd week Dec then very busy but seemed to be more drinking than bf'ing. On current form expecting low season to start 10th Jan.
Positive effect seems to be more cute girls available in Cowboy/Nana than in recent years but pricing still seems to be holding for now.

this is nothing new,
all the SC, and i'm sure the Nana bars as well, bars had a high BF NY Eve/Day, from 1000B-1200B.
for 2 reasons, to keep girls in the bar longer, i.e not being cleared out by partiers early leaving an empty bar by 11pmish,
and to avoid girls paying their own BF to go out and party.
