i married a thai there, its no easy ride (visa wise) but managing the girl is easy....i think marrying a white chick in thailand mightnt be so dumb...After all the worst that can happen is you run into 27 old girlfriends and she is shocked ...Quick visit to eden every afternoon (when in bangkok) or she calls it off just in time/wants a divorce...and butterfliesare free to fly again (but wait heaint dumb he is already there!!) cheers.......butif you are for real...and thing its all juicey sweet for missy... than she is out there way to go... orthe previous observations are right your blasting the brain cells on something and /or murdering the monkey wishing you had thai pussy. Just compare arse size...and count how many up to yous you here on your honeymoon(if it goes that far) but wait hell this might be love,.......Something you feel towards a white woman you havent got to really know yet......one way or another see ya in bangkok.

Invaderzim mentioned something about a dowry from the groom. I have tried getting information on this but have been unsuccessful. I want to marry too (yeah I know I am f_cking nuts!), but asside from that, does anyone know anything about dowry's - what is reasonable? what is not? Thanks.

Can't seem to start a new thread for this so hafta hijack this thread. Managed to complete registration of my marriage to my Thai gf in 2 days. Jez thot I'd share with the good people here how I did it. Now, to marry a Thai citizen, my embassy reqd me to submit some docs in exchange for an affidavit stating my particulars. Docs reqd were: 1. Certificate from my home police certifying that I have no police record (not sure what happens if I did have a rap sheet). 2. Letter from my home Labour Ministry outlining her employment history in my home country (my Thai wife had none). 3. My marriage records. 4. Proof of employment (letter from employer wd suffice). 5. Passport and ID of my Thai wife and myself. The procedure wd be to then: 1. Bring all original docs to my embassy in BKK for the consular bloke to sight and prepare an affidavit. 2. Get the affidavit translated into Thai. The embassy recommended some firm providing translation services in Sathorn City Tower. 3. Get the translated affidavit endorsed by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Chaengwattana Rd. 4. Register at any local amphur. You will need the endorsed affidavit, a copy of yours and your girl's passport, and a copy of her ID. You will get a nice marriage certificate in return. How I did it in 2 days (+ costs) : Day 1 1. Make a beeline for your embassy in the morning. Took me a half hr to get it done (100 THB). 2. Get to Sathorn City Tower to get the affidavit translated into Thai. Tower receptionist claimed there was always a long queue and intro'ed 2 blokes on bikes who brought us to a travel agency to get the translation done. 2 hrs to get it done (1500 THB. Might be some padding involved but it was hot and we didn't care). 3. Go to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Chaengwattana Rd to get the translated affidavit endorsed. We reached there abt 3pm but the queue was closed even tho tho the counter closes at 3.30pm. Gal at the info counter told us to fill in a form and hand it in to any counter. Waited abt 30 mins for my name to be called. Handed in my docs and paid 800 THB for express service (200 THB will see you getting your stuff back in 2 or 3 day's time, according to a notice on a nearby wall. The part abt 400 THB being the rate for express service looked like a joke). Got my stuff in 20 mins. Day 2 1. Get to any amphur. I was putting up in Petchaburi so I was directed by hotel staff to the Phra Khanorn Amphur (Semmangan Keat Phra Khanorn in paasat Thai). Make sure you have at least 2 copies of your passport, the page of your passport showing your entry date into Thailand, and her ID. 2. Go through the hoop with the lady at the front desk who will get you and your gal to fill in a ton of forms. Give them the docs they require for them to prepare your marriage certificates. Oh yes, and cough up 500 THB. 3. The lady wd then direct you to some bloke behind who wd then stamp your marriage certificates and some other stuff. 4. Voila! You are now man and wife, all for 2900 THB. If I had gone to my embassy first thing in the morning I believe I wd have done it in one day. Guess it was the $$$ that made the way smooth as well. Hope this helps. Doomas

IK, Took a peek at the page you supplied. A criminal check record doesn't seem to be reqd, unlike my own country. However, you might want to call up your embassy in LOS to be sure. If such a check is needed, they might know where and how you might get it. I had to get mine from the CID and it took a week+ for them to complete the check and issue me with the relevant cert. Worry not, mate. I'm sure all will work out fine for you one way or other. Doomas

Ahhh, A fellow Singaporean I see. Congrats on being newly married. One can also get a printed checklist from the embassy for the documents required.
