everything is registered as it should be by the thai law. why do i get this documents, and all the full sets of por20ties, Ýand why I am obliged to show then to various aurhorities, get taxed and what so on. I even had the revenue department in last december, to pay the lame sum of 85'000 baht in backtaxes to the government, with official receipt.
I am not kidding. I know what I am talking about. I sell to tesco, robinson, landmark, yontrakit and many more. and I don't need a f_cking working permit. I am approved to do as I am.
I am here, I do my business and it is legiminate and I am not worried about the bullshit so called people say.

Well, in answer to your serious question:
The only difference is that I will now always have to accompany my passport on visa runs. It's a bit of a bore but no big deal - you can get from BKK to Poi Pet & back same day, and for some of us who have to 'organise' our LTs, visa runs can be quite useful. In the past, I sometimes got an agency to do it - not the one which forged the stamps, but one which got passports out & back through legit channels.
I don't complain about this at all. The Thais have every right to police their borders. I recognise that they'd lost control of the situation, that there are many very undesirable (even criminal) foreigners living here and that they face a terrorist threat.
If I wanted to regularise my status as a permanent immigrant (don't feel any real need), I would qualify easily enough under the marriage rules. What do they want? $10,000 in the bank, $1,000 a month income and some evidence that you haven't just jacked up a marriage of convenience. Doesn't strike me as very onerous at all.
As for the great 'crackdown' - hasn't spoiled my enjoyment of the bars one whit. What with the girls delighting in pushing the regs to the limit, the changes are trifling and, I am sure, temporary. As yet, I can see no difference at all between this year's 'crackdown' and last year's.
Some more radical changes may materialise in due course - if they wanted to push P4P off Sukhumvit itself, could anyone really blame them? So far all they've managed is precisely the opposite effect thanks to 2am closing.
Thailand is not a sex park or a folk museum but a living society where change is constant. People take this in their stride at home. Why not here? Why is the place never a patch on how it used to be 5, 10, 20 whatever years ago? More that just routine nostalgia, I think, with more than a touch of paranoia.
