In a few days I will reach retirement visa age in Thailand
(which is 50)
I have been here for about 2 and half weeks upcountry with my wife and have about 10 days left-
Over the last 3 years in Australia I have strenghthened the position here-
For me its Rural- Farming and such-
Luckily, with her families land and cattle - a way exists for a retirement here-
A simple tractor has yeilded great results- mutiplying the herds numbers- buying and selling rice (as well as producing it)
But for me this Pandora has to wait alittle longer - maybe a few more years-
Its alittle like that-
Your the cripple who suddenly is free of the burdens the ugly western shores sentence you to-
The work and bills and in your face serious world, complete with feminization - and mass media
Your hooked into some cartoon land where things are seemingly younger fresher- the tv has dancers and clowns laughter - ghosts - stupidity-
The adventures and magic and simplistical pleasures- smiling faces- sunsets - family dinners and long sleeps that are tender-
Your wife kneels and prays on the bed at night and a firefly buzzes about-
(idea for thead) its innocent - its what something deep within you tells you to keep- this is pandora
Its alot like pandora-
You fly here hook in- its all gone -
Crashing realities are the costs of staying hooked?
Maybe a retirement plan needs just that- planning!
I need the following in my own plan-
A bigger extension to home so a shop can be relocated-
A harvester, and additional tractor, and 4 wheel pick up-
3 million in bank as well as 800,000 for retirement visa requirements-
A condo by beach - and about enough money to see me til the year 2018 when I get my superannution-
The cost of living in the countryside is very much cheaper - but it can be tough as its not exactly the thrills of Pattaya-
But as you get older you moderate things-
Hooking up into cartoon land upcountry (with a promise of 4 breaks on the coast a year ) seems worth it all-
I have made a situation here where I can exist modestly -
Like that cripple soon I am back in the chair (for me its boats and a sydney winter)
But fuelled by the magic of my own Pandora you work and plan til the day arrives you escape for good.

As I said I turn 50 soon-
I am slowing down-
Besides I could play nearby and there and not get caught -
Family life I am taking a shine to
I mention buying and selling rice - as opposed to just producing as it is very different-
Its just to encourage others who might be rural and near cambodia and can cross borders daily - (her family)
With application you can scratch out about 10,000 a week (two trips) profit-
The grain is sold in Ta-praya and sometimes Kuri kia-
I know its only $300 a week jingjo but that adds up over a year-
This thread is designed to also help keep farangs aware of ways to make a living on the land-
Higher yeilds with machinery and also renting out tractors and such-
I want a harvester - the guy renting that makes some bucks-
I dont want to sound like I am a know it all- as I am learning alot-
But breeding cattle netted me and wife 130,000 last year - again not much - its all about many pies-
We made two small water catchments that cost About $1500 each to dig out- and pumps and piping-
You dont really know me Jingjo- sure I have a very bad history of butterflying and a long list of failure Thai breaks and divorces- and some scars-
But we settle down-
My current wife keeps me happier than a whore could-
As I said this is my pandora-
I will drive boats a few more years - but will end up here-
Farming always seems impossible - but I am here to say it isnt-
The area north of Aranyaprehet is flourishing in the rural sector with heavy machinery being seen much much more-
There has been some boder clashes laterly but its all ok again-
Still I admit I want that pattaya Condo for a few escapes (with wife) a few time a year - so that will be this years goal-
Ps havent butterflied for 15 days!

QQ, I agree... for me it's a nice place to visit... but living upcountry is like watching paint dry..... I did the cattler thing... the rice thing.... the only thing that reallly worked was I built two large fish ponds... now the family and all relatives eatr fish almost daily.... that's the only thing that worked for me... plus a new pick up truck like the family.... and the rebuilding of the house.... and the extra rooms I added on with air con.. I could go on and on.... All I know is that the whole place is a money pit....

This is interesting. From DG's previous posts he doesn't do any of the things he has listed, other people do them, and the other people keep all the money. In the past it was always other people that did them too.
You will be very hard pressed to try to buy, and sell rice as a foreigner in that region. I have to call BS that you, or any foreigner, could do this. Your wife, and family might be able to, but you could not.
You might able to buy the machinery, but you can not get anyone to hire you to do any work on someone elses farm. Your wife's family might be able to get the work, but again I have to call BS that you, or any foreigner could get any business from other farmers.
List one real business that you, or any other foreigner could do in that region without the help of a Thai, not the businesses that your wifes family run, but one business that you run on your own. List that DG. Those would be the only businesses that would be of any benefit to this membership.
You will need those kind of businesses in order to survive when you get caught butterflying again, and this wife takes everything too, if she doesn't kill you like you've said in your posts that she has promised you she will do if she catches you....lolol. You got real lucky once already if you expect us to believe your post on that subject.
Don't quit your day job....hahahahaha.
