Maco88 - About Bangkok Patio (hotel)... I've never stayed there, but the price and facility on their website look wonderful. Here's my 2 baht's worth: Their website states it is a 5 min. walk to the Sanam Pao BTS station. To me, that answers your question as to access to Suk & Silom. It's all about the BTS (skytrain) in BKK and whether you are near a BTS line. Once you make that 5 minute walk, you are 15-30 minutes from both Suk & Silom. Taxis to those areas would really suck most times of the day. But, the BTS is your salvation. One thing to remember, the BTS starts at 6am and stops at 12 midnight, (at least it did last year.) My conclusion? I think the location is ok.

Thanks for your input emerald, as I have never stayed in that area of BKK, I know very little the area, about the shops,cafes, restaurants, bars etc.. also are there many expats/farangs that reside around there.
Also the residence in this neighbourhood, middle class, upper class?????
In a nutshell would it be a good suburb to live in?
Any of you BTF brothers familiar with this area, your comments would be appreciated, as I definitely like the look of this place, even if the website is designed to make it look appealing.

You'd expect it to be wouldn't you, especially taking it longer than a month. I will find out though, and will pay them a visit personally before I commit.
Hopefully it will be a great place, good enough location & girl friendly.

Found a nice cheap place in excellent location the other day:
"Chaidee Mansion", Sukhumvit, Soi 11, at the very end of the Soi. You actually look at it going down Soi 11. Don't mix it up with the same name and bigger residential building behind it.
Close to Genesis Bar, Q-Bar, Bed Supper Club, President Solitaire, Le Fenix, Citichic etc.
Saw one room and liked it. Spacious and clean, good layout and kitchenette. Not much of a boutique style but new and nice enough. Excellelent rates with apr. 1700 Bht LT stay.

Nice location? Did I say that? Heavy construction work going on in Soi 11, very bad traffic overload in Soi 11 late at night when Bed and Q and others are closing...
Nevertheless a good budget option I guess...

You're both right guys.
Chaidee Mansion is right above the 7-11 and goes up to the next sub soi where Ananda Spa and President Solitaire is. So make sure you get a room on the sub soi end of the building. That unique 7-11 ding-dong bell rings all night... and it has nothing to do with free drinks or something... iykwim
Doc, they have a studio and a 1 bedroom layout. Strangely enough both have more or less the same total size and the only difference is either a solid wall with 2 doors or just a rack between the two sections. So the 1 bedroom layout makes quite a small living room and is only usefull if u really want a separate bed-/living room. The studio layout has the same total size and instead of the wall just a nice room dividing rack where the TV is in. That studio layout together with the fairly big kitchenette and bathroom was exactly what I percieved as spacious. You can't really see this on the pictures if you didn't see in real before. It's not much of a hotel situation with only a very humble entrance area and reception. But if the basic facts fit one's needs it's worth having a look I guess.
No, I don't have shares in Chaidee Mansion...

It says in their information / regulation section that...
Maximum occupancy of an Apartment is limited for 4 person. For additional person Baht 300/- will be charged per Night and this also limited for 2 person.
What does that mean?

I would assume it means max total per unit is 6 with 300 B./night axtra charge for any person beyond 4. Makes sense hugh...
Let me explain further:
If you stay on your own you can bring 3 TGs for free (hotel only)
If you stay with your wife it gets more tricky:
As long as both of you bring only one nighttime companion everything is fine...
The moment one of you wants to do an extramatrimonial 3some the additional charge kicks in, 300 B. are due... So 3some only intermatrimonial, ok? From a pure budget point of view an intermatrimonial 4some seems to be a real temptation...
Worst case scenario is you, your Thai wife and both her Isaan parents booked. Bang, unit fully occupied, no free bangin TG any more (from a surcharge point of view)
