Here is my two cents.
Maybe I am just an easy mark, but to be honest--I have been quoted 700 baht to start at SOL and all of the Patpong BJ bars for several years now. The quote has always been 200 for bar, 500 for lady.
However, that rate is negotiable down to 500 baht. And it is usually 500 baht for regular customers.
So I would not waste a lot of time ranting on the rate issue. Become a regular customer. Tell them you have always paid 500, and I think most places will come down.
It is just like massage places where the girl will initially quote 2000 or 2500 baht for FS. Hey, if they can get it, then god bless them. If you balk, most ladies will immediately drop it to the going rate.
And yes, that rate has been going for many, many years now. I am surprised they have not insisted on a pay raise.

Well, now they are insisting on a "pay rise' because they get no salary from the bar itself, as has been described here on this thread a couple of times.
I've been going for years and I enjoy the ladies and their high quality service regularly. You can keep the old rates, if you wish.
They have hearts of gold, these girls. I will not take advantage of them, just because they know me of ages past.
I.for one will be paying the present asking rate of 700 baht in future, with no complaints. I value their service too highly. I will not haggle to get the price previously enjoyed. It would be insulting.
I see that Joe Wood has edited the first page for newbies. I think that was a good move.
One last thought, you guys. I hope you all agree.
Which one of us would be contented in June 2006 to be getting the same salary as we were getting in 1997 for the same job ?
I should think, not one of us.
I'm all for the 700 baht charge. It's been well over-due.
