I agree. I normally spend about $250 usd a day in bangkok. But I'm not a fan of soi 33. I just don't see the quality girls you guys are talking about. I actually think they are better looking at Nana and Cowboy. If I want to go "up market", it won't be to soi 33. There are much better alternatives. That's just my opinion.

Soi 33 is one of those places I just never did get.
I am not watching the pennies so to speak so splashing out on a good night I do not mind. When I go to soi 33 its boring nothing to do, ok you can sit a cool down for a few beers but I can do that in the lobby of a hotel or a nice restaurant etc. I always go and hope that I see the light that others talk about. I have tried most the bars even the small ones down the side streets on 33 but all the same. I feel all you are doing is paying for a slightly better spoken English level, don’t care I will talk Thai to them anyway more easy sometimes and yes you cannot forget your paying for a nicer dress on the girl than the clothing you get in Patpong. NANA Soi cowboy etc. The beers can be very cheap SOMETIMES!, the happy hours etc which do not seem to be a happy hour but more of a happy 10 hours which is good. If not happy hour OW!! dear watch out prices go up through the roof. Bar fines a little high in some places I think there.
One friend that was visiting me here wanted me to take him around the night life and he did not really like NANA or Soi Cow Boy he said to in your face, I took him to Soi 33, I did not seem him for the rest of his 2 weeks here, went out ever night there said its one of the best places he had been to in the world, great girls who look after you talk nice and are great when you talk them back.
Well it’s for some people but not for me that’s for sure but I do not give up.
Who’s buying the beers.

I like Soi 33 not because the girls are better but because of the atmosphere in the place. Sure you can find girls just as hot in SC or Nana.
I like the place because you can have a nice quite beer with a girl and play a game of pool. Or chat with friends without being pushed for drinks.
Plus love getting my face wiped in every bar with a nice cool clothe by a cutie as soon as you enter the bar.
It is not for everyone I agree, but it is a nice change and thanks to CG I found the place.
Yes the BF's are very high and all the girls are not good to go. Yes I have paid for a BF for a girl in there, did she even have the bimmher or CG look no. Do I care no. Guess after spending a month dropping in on her in her bar she just sort of got to me.
If I was in BKK every two months or less you could bet I would have a bottle in more then a few places with bimmher writen on them for my return.
To me it is the best place to start the night out IMHO. For other's it is not, up to you.

A couple of us went to Soi 33 last night. We went to Lookie Lookie. Some very cute girls in LL, I was able to enjoy good company with a GoodEnglishGirl despite sleeping with three other girls from there! Still one of my favorite bars on Soi 33.
Enough fun there, so we headed down to Degas. Good make-out session with a great girl from there (who says she does NOT have sex with customers). She said we could "sleep only"... we'll see! She was cute enough to take for a test drive. Friendly bar, a couple of cute girls, no buy drink pressure whatsoever. I seem to either get felt up or a tongue stuck down my throat every time I go there. Ladydrinks are 90 baht (I think) before 9pm. I have never seen any other customers here.
The Brick and Papa are now closed. Oliver Read is not called something else ("R" Club?). Popped out heads in there, only a couple of girls there.

I agree about Lookie Lookie. Some cute girls and no pressure at all. Often go in after work with colleagues and they will leave you alone if you want or molest you if you want.
BTW have you noticed that Big Shots opposite nearly always has a couple of coppers sat outside between 5 and 6 ish. This has been going on for about 18 months. Used to go in and they would be playing pool. Maybe someone has a share in it

The girl CG,DrLove and I were talking too about two years ago told me there was a big fuss about managment and a lot of the girls from Blue BBQ left and moved to Lookie Lookie.
Infact quote I haven't seen CG in a long time as his girl friend left with the others to go to Lookie Lookie but I keep seeing him on Suk always with a different girl. He doesnt' know my apartment overlooks Suk  I think he has many girls
