Looking at those You tube clippings, I have decided to hire 4-wheel drive and see Koh Chang of my own. And at night no driving while drinking. Come back to the hotel by Cab, or hire a cab from Evening till midnight,if I have to move around bars.

Unless you are going to other areas on the island at night, and not advised, you can walk everywhere at any of the little towns. They aren't that big, then you can catch the songtaews until midnight. No need to rent anything at night.

On that YouTube video, at the 4:39 mark, that section on the side of the road with all of the shrines -- each shrine marks a death that died on the road, in that particular spot.

And they've even had mudslides along that stretch. Just when you think the roads are not impossible, then it starts to rain.
And I also have a tip for Bimlee: Don't eat in any faring restaurants. They're very pricey and I can't think of any that are very good. Three are lots of excellent Thai seafood restaurants with very modest prices.

Agreed on the food recommendation - Buddha View used to be good, then changed hands, and now is equally mediocre.
Thai food places is the way to go.
