I know really a lot of places in Khorat -my office is there- and I haven't even seen a muslim... maybe expat67 suffers from some kind of PTSD...

I can confirm that there's at least one gogo bar in Khorat -- it's about 100-150 meters west of the Sripitana Hotel on the south side of the street (was 2 years ago). It's quite small, and I seem to recall being the only farang there, but the girls were cute and it had a kind of seedy air about it -- an upstairs area was supposedly available for ST encounters, but I never made it up there.
Also, directly across the street from the Sripatana is a nightclub where I was propositioned for extremely expensive services to be rendered by 2 really hot college girls -- actually, not too expensive ($150) but at the end of my trip, uh, too expensive.
There are also karaoke bars that have reputations there that I haven't been to; the Bules Saloon (was supposed to be the Blues Saloon -- a sign fu6k up), where when the miltary boys aren't in town some interesting situations can arise and there's a solid cover band fronted by the owner and a smoking hot Thai girl with a great voice; a few other nightclubs in the newer, eastern portion of the city with lots of lovelies, and plenty of opportunities abound for younger guys to hook up with non-industry TGs.
I've nothing but good things to say about Khorat -- it's slower paced and friendlier than BKK and has an altogether more laid-back vibe. I'll be stopping in again in Feb on my way back from Cambodia.

Korat used to be the home of Saddam's special women's commando school, however it has now been turned into a Lebanese restaurant (great food at excellent prices), which is next to a Swedish pizza shop (No joke).
However, the school closed due to inappropriate behaviour and outlandish claims of world domination by its erstwhile leader and of course from complete apathy from the population...
Action can be found around the central square area in the middle of town on the side with the 7-11 on it, cheap and cheerful if your not picky.
Better action to be found in the club underneath the Suma thani hotel (prices vary but probably 1500-2000 LT), and you can take them into the hotel.
There a few massage places dotted around as are the Karaoke bars, with a small cluster of clubs, pubs etc near the Klang plaza department store. Also, a few live music joints but as with the rest of the places dotted around, local knowledge a real boon. Tuk Tuk's reasonable but a little lingo helps.
In essence an army town straddling highway 2 with a large Mall that has all the eateries required and the cinema's, in essence a mellow town that has its moments and is as they say: 'what you make of it'

I actually ate at the Lebanese restaurant, next door to Sten's Pizza (nice guy, Sten) -- it was great. No sign of Saddam's lovelies, though. The gogo club I was mentioning is/was on the same street, just further west.
Khorat's a nice time, definitely, and the Sripatana's a great hotel value. Nobody uses the pool and everybody's quite friendly. I might try a quick jaunt up to Kohn Kaen from there this year, as I keep hearing good things...

Yep, both the Lebanese and the Pizza shop have good hosts and I now remember the GO GO up the road but as said Korat is a pleasant mellow place the haunts are well spread out thus local knowledge or a guide is helpful.
Yes, I to have heard good reports from Khon Khaen will have to give it a go ASAP.
