As hard as it is to say. NY Steakhouse is just not as good as it once was. The "old" manager was a stickler on quality and the new place is just not as good as before. I used to love coming to the NY Steakhouse, however my last visit there was horrible. The meat tasted like it was just defrosted, and it was one of the worst meal I've had that cost over 3,800 baht. (1 person) I used to love going to that place. Now, I would not go there even if someone else pays for it.

I know people with lower standards than I have saying the Marriott is a big waste as well. I have taken the word of previous posters on here by avoiding the place

I have been at New York Steakhouse twice the past week, bringing visiting business people there. The restaurant has imported American Beef, chilled, not frozen. No doubt about it. In fact, it's the only place in town which is able to constantly have supplies. That's a fact. Try the other steak houses. Sometimes there is US Beef, sometimes there isn't.
The beef is as good as it has ever been, so are the side dishes. All freshly cooked. Don't know, whether the tomatoes are imported, in any case, they were fresh and tasted excellent.
Service was attentive, not intrusive. The new Manager is pleasant, talks to you if you want, but leaves you alone if you engaged in talks with your guests. Quite unlike the previous fellow who was just too overwhelming.
Sure, all the above doesn't come cheap, but then again, there are enough cheaper alternatives if one desires so.
The choices on Steakhouses are plenty now - with several places trying to copy the original.
Go, where you think, the food is best in your view, it's a free world and nobody forces anyone to go to a specific place. It's a free world out there. 'nuff said...

Yes I was there last night and the manager told me that that chef was going to go to the Dusit Thani outside of Thailand, but the Hilton paid him big buicks to work there.
No big loss as steaks are probably the easiest thing to prepare, you just have to have good meat to start. Now if this was French or Itailian food that would be a different story.
On a much serious note the JW switched their martini drinks to using small olives instead of the biggest and best olives in town. I personnaly filed a complaint with the F&B manager. Isn't anything sacred?

ThaidUp, Gotta disagree with the statement re steaks. My experience is that MOST people can make what was a good quality steak taste like SH*T. BBQ ing a steak is an art, although a simple one,, correct temperature and only ever turn once + none of that pushing down with the tongs crap.
If one if caught with a somewhat lesser quality steak such as US, Indonesian or Thai beef, a marinade is required to help loosen the toughness, preferably containing at least some Kiwi fruit ( Chinese gooseberry) which is a natural tenderiser.
At the moment I have some organic "scotch fillet steak"
from King island, a mix between Wagyu and Angus breeds. Cut around 4cm thick ( 1.6 inches for non metricised persons", this is definately in no need of a marinade.

Is this another of your blanket "slam the US" statements?
For your information, I was raised in West Texas and there are no finer steaks in the world than those available there. Have you ever tried any of them? Were you ever in Lowake Steak House, to name just one of many? Lowake has a private landing strip and people from all over the US fly there just to have dinner.
You might want to look at this before you come up with these generalizations.

I let you get away with many of your snide remarks but when you criticize US (and by inference, Texas) beef, you have widely missed the mark and have certainly overstepped your range of knowledge.
