Travelled to Bangkok with GF this time. The flight is always jam packed as they pick passenger from all over the world. Flight out of Bahrain was 2 Hours late. Flight out of Bangkok was 6 hours late and imagine people were just so pissed off coz most of them missed their onwards connections. Mine was for paris and I had to transit bahrain for 7 more hours to get the next connection. Food is terrible too.
Good looking stewardesses and good selection of Liquir was the only thing mentionable.

I got lucky and the flight was cancelled when I went to check in. I got transfered to Cathay on a flight 2 hours earlier. Cathay is a GREAT airline!
Flew China Southern from Hong Kong into China. Not a bad flight. But the guy driving the plane couldn't keep it straight for shit. It was like a damn rollercoaster ride for a while.

Anyone flown with Gulf recently? reading the posts on this thread suggest that this airline don't know a pudding from shit, have they cleaned their act up or is it same, same?
looking to fly early August from London and found a flight thru expedia with Gulf for £478inc taxes, as it summer hols time in UK this is quite a good deal.
Cheapest direct flight I've found is £700 with Thai. Obviously would rather use the extra £200+ on... hmmm...sightseeing tours etc...  but at the cost of being bumped off flights or missing connections, maybe not worth the risk,
So any info would be appreciated.

I flew Gulf last October, was bumped but given Business Class on the next flight, used the First Class/ Business Class Lounge at Abu Dabhi (or Bahrain I can't remeber exactly!!) which was excellent, overall it was an interesting experience and the staff at Heathrow were excellent!!

I hope you delay was not to long.
Was it voluntary or were you at the back of the queue?
Hope you got more than just an upgrade on the next flight?
I never have been bumped even though I have flown many hundreds of times, twice I volunteered:
- The first was flying back from Gibraltar to LHR, it was an 8 hour delay they put me up at the Rock hotel for the after noon and gave me some money, the laugh was the flight I was to have flown on got delayed and only departed ½ hour before mine.
- The second time was when flying back (BKK-LHR) with EVA, the package was quite good, it would have been an 8 to10 hour delay with a day room, business class on CP or MON, and some cash, but in the end they found me a seat, it was an upgrade that turned out to only be an “Economy Plus”.
Nowadays flights subject to ECC rules have a lot better compensation then others.

Sent a girl off on Gulf this week. We showed up and the flight was delayed, thus she was going to miss her connector to London. They put her on the expensive direct Thai air flight. What a bonus! half price for better airline.

I fly Gulf Air all the time to BKK from Saudi. I fly Business/First Class and have never had a problem with being bumped.
My flights have almost always been on time, with only a couple of 2-3 hour delays, in the past ten years. The lounges are pleasant and the in-flight service is good.
I fly again to BKK in Mid-August and will be on Gulf Air. I hope I don't have to report a bad experience in a month or so.
