I would like some opinions here from guys who have experience in BKK's nightlife. Over 10 years I usually used condoms although many times I did not. My personal experience has told me that it may be virtually impossible to acquire HIV through straight vaginal sex although anal sex is a different story. Yesterday I was involved in a massive fight at the correctional facility where I work and was ordered by my Captain to receive a blood-test. Apparently the inmate has full-blown AIDS and although I cut him none of the blood got on me. The problem is my test comes back in three days and I am scared. I guess I thought I would never get tested. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF GETTING HIV FROM STRAIGHT VAGINAL SEX (NO ANAL AND CERTAINLY NO IV DRUG USE Thanks

So let's get this straight, in earlier threads you state you've been shagging Thai babes for ten years, and to date you have done hundreds. While in other threads, you mention that you rarely wear a condom. And now, in this thread, you not only reveal that as of this thread date [19 Sept. 2005] you had never ever been tested for HIV/AIDS, but that you did so not of your own volition but were ordered to do so by a superior.

Since that first test has there been a second? And do you happen to know: is the chance of contracting HIV/AIDS greater from having unprotected sex in Thailand, or from US correctional center brawls? Inquiring minds want to know...

No I had no idea she had HIV four 10 years but she had 100 % idea. She even went to the doctor every month. The doctor told me that the Low level of infection saved me and the fact I am from North Europe. We have some genetic stuff inside that makes us stronger to HIV according to the Doc.

Report from The Nation dated Saturday 25 November 2006 :-

HIV is infecting more Thai youths nowadays
================================

The HIV infection rate among Thai youngsters has become even worse this year, the Public Health Ministry said yesterday ahead of World Aids Day on December 1.

The worsening trend is illustrated by the prevalence of infection among teenage mothers, said Dr Somyos Charoensak, a deputy permanent secretary-general of the ministry.

HIV infection in pregnant women aged between 15 and 19 last year was zero, but this year the rate of new infection in this group was reported at 0.44 per cent.

The infection rate of this group was about half the overall infection rate of pregnant women of all ages, which was on the downward trend.

The prevalence of infection in young men conscripted into the army showed a similar worrying trend. The infection rate of new soldiers rose from 0.4 per cent in 2005 to 0.5 per cent this year. The estimate of new infections in young people aged between 15 and 24 was about 15,000 per year, accounting for 40 per cent of the total number of new infections, Somyos said.

The main factor attributed to the rise in the young group was unsafe sex, said Dr Charnchai Khumphong, deputy director-general of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Health Depart-ment. Its latest survey showed condom use in high schools and vocational students was only 40 per cent, he said.

In response to the infection trend in youngsters, the ministry plans to step up safe-sex campaigns targeting teenagers as well as other activities related to the HIV/Aids education programme, which will be integrated into year-round activities.

Report from Bangkok Post dated Saturday 1 December 2006 :-

Thais make 'world's longest condom'
===========================

Thailand was to mark World Aids Day on Friday evening by making what participants described as the "longest condom chain" - a ribbon of 25,000 condoms.

The frivolity had a serious side as well, to raise awareness to fight the HIV virus and Aids.

More than 1,000 activists and other participants were to show up to take part on Friday evening Lumpini Park, according to Unesco, the UN cultural body that was organising the event with a number of Thai non-government agencies.

Once the condoms are arranged, side-by-side on a ribbon placed on the ground, the chain is to be measured both by hand and using a satellite photo, said Unesco spokeswoman Johanna Rogers.

The attempt to make it all official seemed futile, because there is no actual entry for such a thing as "the longest condom chain" in the Guinness World Record book.

Thailand has largely succeeded in becoming a model in the fight against Aids and has made great gains in reducing the number of new infections through strongly promoting condom use among prostitutes and clients alike in the sex industry.

For World Aids Day, officials warned the epidemic has started to shift, with HIV cases rising among male homosexuals, young people having casual sex, injecting drug users, and monogamous housewives whose husbands bring the disease home.

The agency UNAids estimates some 570,000 people are living with the virus in Thailand, about a third of them women.

Aids peaked in Thailand in 1991 with about 143,000 new annual cases, a figure that has since dropped more than 80 per cent.

In 2006, some 15,000 people contracted the disease, said Praj Boonyarowong, the Health Ministry's permanent secretary.

I'm having trouble with the numbers here

1. "The infection rate of new soldiers rose from 0.4 per cent in 2005 to 0.5 per cent this year. The estimate of new infections in young people aged between 15 and 24 was about 15,000 per year, accounting for 40 per cent of the total number of new infections, Somyos said. "

2. "In 2006, some 15,000 people contracted the disease, said Praj Boonyarowong, the Health Ministry's permanent secretary"

Who is people? We only talkingThai youngsters? (Generally, the only females I want to screw in BKK)

15 000 is 40 new aids infections a day, every day, that's quite a lot. Even if the Thais could do a count with all of the country villages and city slums.

Don't be silly, cover your willy.

HIV not same AIDS.

One sentence speak being infected with virus other sentence speak disease.

15,000 more people testing positive (or contracting) HIV not equal 15,000 more people having full blown AIDS.
