I have not seen SIM cards sold at the airport, either before or after immigration. And unless something has changed, top-up cards are NOT available "airside" (I have tried!).

But you can buy a top up card in at least two places at the airport on the Bangkok-side (after you clear customs on arrival or before you clear immigration on departure). The first is Terminal 1 all the way to the left, basement (in the car park), Family Mart store. The other is Terminal 2 all the way to the right on the level between departures and arrivals, 7-Eleven store. I have used both to top-up my phone prior to leaving LOS.

Thanks CG never had to topup as I leave as I always make sure enough on my SIM till I arrive next time before I get to the airport. And if I forget I just get the mia jaa to top it up for me.

I would guess where there is a 7-11 or Family Mart, there are simcards too. These are distributed nationwide.

Maybe not visible, just ask for them.

But I haven't been there for ages....

Hey guys,

I just came from there ( 7-11 ) in the arrivals term 1, in the parking garage area, they do have DTAC / orange Sim cards avalible right next to the cashier ( my brother who I was picking up needed one ). I did not see AIS sims but they have refills for all of them

He just bought a DTAC sim as the rates are allitle better right now.

Hi Guys,
Coming to LOS in Jan and was wondering if there is any places online to buy Thai sim cards??? that people have tried or recommend? So once I hit BKK I can be ready to rock at the airport.... Also what is the best GSM provided and will my Blackberry 7600 (AUSTRALIAN) work in LOS?

search ebay for "Thailand SIM". They are cheaper to buy when you get to LOS but that is 20 minutes you could be spending getting a blowjob instead of buying a SIM card.

I am certain there are folks on here that know more than I on ths subject but....

My experience with Blackberry here is pretty poor. Obviously you can just use the roaming agreement your Aus provide has with local Thai carriers. Expensive but it works.

A few months ago, no one was offering full blown BB service here. Now DTAC, True and AIS offer a variety of support to the devices. For a S/T gig, you'll likely only get basic voice/sms service but not the other features.

I have also found that my BB device had a helluva time maintaining reasonable signal, thus my battery was dying out quickly (like every other day). So I pulled out my old Ericsson and left it at that.

Unless there is some pressing need, or you are here for a long time, I would just drop a local SIM, accept the voice and sms limits, forget about the rest and have a great time here in LOS....
