Indeed Kool Aid ! email for the masses... or better yet Mamma Soft creators have Kool Aid philosophy in software design... thinking its the #1 and only for Intranet Internal communications ! watered down sugar drinks !... but a poor reporting mechanism Lotus Notes, Mozilla ThunderBird, and Mac Mail ! are its competitors.... no convincing big corpa though to ditch Outlook cause they are addicted to meetings and its calender updates ! as cloud computing server farms increase many corps are converting to in house custom propriatary intranets

Well, as of next month, Snow Leopard will be supporting Exchange natively -- at least on the client side, we'll have a choice (i.e. Entourage will die). Of course, last week, Microsoft's Mac Business Unit also announced some serious vaporware -- OUTLOOK for Mac! In 18 months. Couldn't be that they are concerned about users rightfully migrating away from their piece of shit..?

Some classic claim chowder from Steve Ballmer, back in April 2007 (two months before the iPhone hit stores) : "There’s no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance." - Steve Ballmer

Canalys: iPhone outsold all Windows Mobile phones in Q2 2009 Apple’s iPhone held onto a 13.7% share of global smartphone unit sales in the second quarter, outpacing Microsoft’s Windows Mobile, which now claims just 9% of the market, according to Canalys. So, how's that working out for you, MonkeyBoy?

just curious who has the other 78%?? as you didnt mention blackberry or rim - can I safely assume that they sold more than your apple's 13.7% and thus you forgot to mention that bit?

Every other smartphone manufacturer, taken together.

RIM had 20.9% in that same market share analysis, no big secret about it, and Nokia still leads with 44%. http://www.canalys.com/pr/2009/r2009081.htm The difference is that RIM has a plethora of smartphone models, and Nokia has a crapload of them, while Apple only has one model, and concentrates only on one market segment. What should give you far more pause is the variation from 2008 to 2009 -- in which Nokia dropped from 45% to 44%, RIM gained from 17% to 21%, yet Apple exploded from 2% to nearly 14%. Compare the same numbers in the USA only market, and you get an interesting picture as well: RIM dropped from 56% to 52%, Apple rose from 7% to to 23%. Not bad for a company who's total goal initially was 1% Global market share.

apple only has 1 model? so an iphone, and a 3g iphone, and a 3gS iphone are all the same then? ok, rim makes "the blackberry" thats one model right?? or if you want to be pedantic just for a change the curve the bold - basically a 3g curve a storm - a touchscreen curve / bold a magnum - a combination of storm and bold - half keys half touch screen i think there is a flip one too if its released yet? but the point is that the main body / workings of the phone is the same - its a "blackberry" with the blackberry push email server system for instant direct emails etc also the FREE blackberry messenger which apple does not have - only sms anyway my point is if you are going to try and say apple only makes 1 model of iphone then your same argument has to carry across to rim only makes 1 blackberry it just does a 3g version (like apple) and also you have a preference choice of keys or touchscreen or both over to you 3gSduck
