As many punters have rightly pointed out, the pickings at most of the go-go bars are getting slimmer by the day. I'm sure many like me go into them with at least reasonable expectations (spurred on by some decent memories from an increasingly distant past), but then end up bar hopping in a desperate attempt to find at least one girl with both a decent body/face and the right attitude.
I've sometimes wondered, while straining to scope out the girls shuffling onstage as the drinks, minutes,... and eventually fruitless hours tick by, why the girls don't switch sides in the middle of their set, so that guys can have a good look at ALL of the merchandise on display. It's frustrating to sit through multiple sets of girls coming onstage, but more or less every time having the same lot facing you. A simple switch around midway through the routine would give all punters a good view of every girl, and thus increase their chances of being bar fined... a win-win for everyone, methinks!
So why isn't this the standard procedure, specially in the well-stocked bars with large numbers onstage simultaneously (e.g., Rainbow) ? Any insights?? Sometimes it feels like waiting at the wrong airport carousel for your luggage as the same crummy bags keep going round and round but your's never arrives

Well it's six of one and half a dozen of the other.
You're waiting to see a switch-over of the dancers so that you can see all the choices open to you in that bar for the night, while someone else who has just bought a lady a drink, doesn't want her to say,"Sorry, but I have to dance now."
The other side of it is that the bar wants you to stay for more than one drink and so, if you are waiting longer for the switch-around of the girls, you are more than likely to buy more than the one drink.

Joe, you missed his point.
he wants the girls on stage to switch sides so he can get a good look at all the dancers on stage, not wanting a quicker shift change.
The best shift change routine, I think, is at Tahitian Queen 1 on beach road in Pattaya. there, 6 girls dance onstage, and at each song, 2 go off and 2 new go on, conveyor belt style. this leaves the girls off the stage much longer as there are about 20 or so girls working...
but to the point, at Playschool in NEP, the girls do dance for a while facing each of the two sides.....

The idea I had was that punters (us) paid for a locker where you stowed clothing- and also bought 500 baht of tip money - that came in the shape of 20 baht cardboard notes (that the bar finer could refund)
Its a fun concept- You get a long T shirt and get on stage- and shake it- Interested girls can tip you the cardboard notes-(that is evenly spread from all punters)
ALL the woman are seated-
Alternatively, when you sit after your 15 minute stint - you go and buy a drink for the girls seated- *(that you like)
Also the concept opens up humor and room for girls to be hard on getting laid-
I also think a BJ bar called swallows where the girl swallows every single drop in your balls over two shots- and two hours with massage between for 6000 baht in plush surrounds would be a nice way to finish the holiday-
Girl gets 4000 baht-
It would be packed-

I agree that the bars would want you to stay longer and order more drinks. A solution would be for the girls to switch sides on alternative sets, instead of in the middle of each, so that punters would have to get through all sets of girls getting their turn onstage at least TWICE before they could be sure of having checked them all out, which would keep the drinks coming for a while, especially in the larger bars with a bigger stable of girls!
As it is, unless I spot my girl early, I usually wait for the original set of girls to return to the stage, and if it's the same lot facing me as before, I leave to try my luck elsewhere. For typical bars with only two sets of girls, one drink can last long enough for this. So the bar doesn't get additional drinks or a bar fine out of me, and I leave wondering if I'd missed a looker on the other side! Not a winning proposition for either side, imho.
I'm surprised why switching sides onstage isn't a standard practice, that's all. A few times I just walk over to an empty seat on the opposite side myself if I want a better look (and sometimes it's paid off!), but that's just a pain to do and not always possible on a crowded night.

I just get up and walk around the stage, or stages (e.g., R4), check out the girls up close, and if I see someone I like, I let her know I want her to join me for a drink and indicate where I am sitting. It's simple. If they don't rotate, you can.
And don't be afraid to be obvious about your interest. We (and they) all know why you're there

Gets expensive scoping out girls as the drinks are do expensive. 145 baht for a coke at rainbows. Was nicew to see Playskool was only 95 baht for a coke. If you go to 5 bars or so and get a drink to check out the girls it is expensive. Also the girls are not so good. Do not know why I even try as with paying 2000 st it is more expensive than geting a cutie at Nataree

I'll never understand the appeal of gogo bars. Give me a bar beer any day, where you can actually talk to the girl and find out if your "interests" coincide...?!?! I mean, f***ing DUH!!
There are notable exceptions, like Spanky's or DC-10 in Nana, where the girls will actually COME DOWN FROM THEIR DANCING SHIFT to sit with you and STAY WITH YOU AS LONG AS YOU'RE BUYING....!!!!
But beyond that, give me the bar beers of Nana or the diddle joints of Cowboy any day...Gogos are for newbie tourist and f***wads...
