Why don't you just go out that way and look? You could get a taxi to take you up and down a few times and see if anything jogs your memory. And if that doesn't work just out just head down Suttisan  Let us know.

well here is my update on the area around suttisan MRT- i'm sure eagerly awaited this is from last year.
i took the MRT out to there around 5pm. wanted to go toward evening but before dark in case it felt sketchy.
got off and headed east which was the best I could remember. got 4-5 blks but too hot. didn't see anything, flagged a taxi but once I got in- I wasn't sure what to tell him.
WTF this is LOS- I told him looking for cafe with girls- he did not know, so I said just drive east on the road. just as aside- I must have met the only taxi guy in BKK that didn't know or want to take me to a massage place. we drove for a while, and he pulls into get gas. then he starts talking with some taxi buddies, pointing at me. they all look over and come over to me. they started asking me in broken english, the name of the place. no one was really making any jokes but were seriously trying to think where it might be, like I had asked how to get to grand palace. I was sweating, embarrased a bit- I was not on sukhumvit, kind of neighborhood area asking for hookers, with like 6 guys around me. I smiled said thanks
well bottom line, we drove further east and I think I found the cafe- it was closed, like out of business. no furniture, empty.
so I think these cafe set up with girls must kind of come and go. the young thai guy I talked the last time I was there, said they were all over BKK. anyone have new info? visiting soon and would like to check out a new place.
recap it is like the old siam hotel coffee shop but run by a manager, and girls appeared close to true Uni girls, and the thai clintele was definitley uppermiddle class. not a gogo, not massage parlor, not karoake either. just hookup and takeout. thanks

Goodness, socal85, are you asking for where some of the cafe karaoke nightclubs are? Well, your Thai friend was right: they are all over Bangkok. Though not in the tourist areas, they are everywhere else. They are at every market level too: little hole in the wall dives and bigger fancy joints with girls in gowns.
I've been in quite a few over the years, but I am sure some brothers on the BTF who also live in BKK can give you further locations than I.
Ramkamhaeng near Bangkapi there are a lot. As in most, the girls sit outside, often dressed alluringly.
On the same soi as Wat Samien, off Vipadee Rangsit, I remember some nice ones.
All the way up from Bangkok Bridge on Rachada (CharoenSanitwong) all the way up to Pinklao, there are uncountable numbers.
I used to visit some on Chan Rd, below Sathorn (though my favorite one, called Golden Glass Ring, where I got laid upstairs, has closed down). There are some along SathuPradit. And actually there are many in the Chong Nonsi alleys and down in the alleys along Rama3 that go out to the river.
I know a couple on Rama4.
In fact, I don't think I can name them all. You go around, you see the Christmas lights and black windows. You read the door. Bingo.
Somehow I feel that I'm not answering your question.

my fave Thai hangouts in BKK would be Rao (several locations), hostess bars
and I had some pretty good times at Florence on Srinakarin rd. & I think it was called Gotcha on Kaset-Nawamin rd., both Coyote dancer places
you were on Suttisan WAY too early, they don't even open the doors for the employees to start going inside until about 20:00

seajohn, u have great info. i'll check some of those out.
but the place I went to is a little different. I have seen all those brigth light karoake places, near carribean, I think,and such. those girls seemed kind of hard, i'm sure some gems in there.
that night, I think I may have glimpsed the mythical pipeline of thai guys hooking up with true uni girls. these girls spoke very good english (not barglish). dressed simply in jeans, nice blouse. talked about boyfriends, classes. giggled like college girls, seemed genuine to me. let the noob flames begin
i promise I won't fall in love, but sometime a little more than sex wouldn't be bad. anyone with thai guy connections? would be fun to make an excursion, like "In Search Of" by leonard nimoy. thanks

I've got a Thai friend and so far if we go hit bars it's more gentlemen's club or farang. He says he's from Singapore and speaks English. He meets once a month with his Thai men's club of movers and shakers for boys fun. I figure it's going to take long time to get invited...
I do have a Thai guy working for me now that's in the know about these things - I'll see what he says about uni students.
I've been working too much and no time for fun that coupled with being quite happily married has kept me off the streets for the most part. Last night got the itch and went down to the club area of Suttisan in Saphan Kwai because it's close to where I live. Most of that's a real dive with some of the lamest pole dancing a man could see... I'd been to this one club before where I’d taken a girl out who was great fun and ended up being couple month fling before she disappeared. Last heard from her when she called me from Bahrain – good luck on that one.
Anyways I head back there hoping lighting strikes again. Saturday night around 11PM. The place is hopping more than I’ve ever seen one of these clubs. Normally it’s one or two dancers and a few booths of Thai guys and that’s it. I go in, get a girl, drink half a beer and head out. But last night it’s quite full and people are having a good time. All Thai guys. They have some dancers doing a dance with candles and dripping wax on themselves. That was interesting and gave the effect of skin cancer or burn victims or something. WTF. Then more girls got into stripping topless, then with the next set off came the tops and the bottoms with just a little nightie thing all open in the front – and off the stage for table dancing in this outfit (or lack thereof). That was very entertaining. Cute girl with me and get gave me a good time at the local short time hotel.
Don’t know the name of the club. It’s at the beginning of the strip up the soi with the 7-11. Just off Suttisan a little on the opposite side of the soi as the 7-11.
