The construction work will last many many months from what I saw when staying in the hotel in February this year. They are working excavating the foundations of what was there previously.
My room overlooked the construction site and I was a bit concerned at first regards the noise levels. I arrived in BKK mid-afternoon after 12 hour flight and attempted to put my head down for a couple of hours. I think because I was over-tired the noise from the building site was particularly noticeable and I found I couldn't sleep.
An afternoon stroll down to Soi 7 to pick up a sweet ST followed up with a walk round NEP and a LT from Carnival and I slept like a baby well into the following morning.
Despite considering myself a light sleeper I had no further problems with the noise. I suppose you adapt to it; indeed it was generally TGs nuzzling up to me in the morning that proved a greater disturbance....
The construction would generally start around 8am and continue thru to about 7 or 8pm. The 8am call was generally a prompt for another round with that morning's TG; then wash, rinse, repeat a few hours later.

ok I'm confused, need some clarification from you guys.
I booked my hotel stay through precision (link from BTF). They send me confirmation email asking for credit card information. Yet, they gave me a single room instead of a double like I asked for. I get back in touch with them through the LiveTalk (which is available 24/7). I tell them to change to a double for me. She says ok but tells me this...
"If you insisted to book Twin/Double room, we will
do that for you but you have to pay extra direct to the
hotel if you have a companion to stay overnight."
Will I really have to pay a joiner fee regardless or is she just saying this? I'm staying a week and I don't want to spend $5 extra a night for a double if I still have to pay a joiner fee. Plus she told me a double room is subject to availability. If this is the case why do I have to pay the higher rate for the double if it isn't guaranteed? This makes no sense to me.
I really want to stay at the Manhattan but I don't want any hassles. What is the situation?

this is myfirst visit here,, and no problem with this hotel, payd my stay over internet.... and dont think I got ripped of!!!!  but then again,, I am the dont worry guy!
Made my reservatin as doubble,, twin,, so far 4 bg 3 nights al ok!! bye!!
